Daily coffee drinker here. I usually have a mug or two in the mornings at work. I drink it the way nature intended: black and strong.

If I have any coffee in the evening, I might put some vanilla creamer in it. Maybe.

I don't drink coffee very often but when I do, I want truck stop coffee that has been boiling in the urn since 4 AM and black as road tar
In the old days, they used to say there were five grades of coffee: the good stuff, java, jamoke, joe, and carbon remover. The good stuff is what you served guests at a wedding. The middle grades were what workmen took with them in a Thermos that kept it hot, or you got at diners. The last grade refers to the carbon that builds up on spark plugs, and getting it off by soaking the plugs to soften the carbon.

My cold coffee has a bit of milk in it but hot coffee is drunk with no additives. I got used to drinking it plain while working in a nuclear plant where we were lucky that the NRC let us have coffee in the shop at all. Providing condiments was a prospect of nightmarish proportions.
The NRC probably allowed that because they knew that depriving a plant full of nuclear workers of caffeine would have been scary beyond all reason.

Much the same reason why US Navy ships NEVER run out of coffee.

The better the coffee, the less I put in it. For gas station coffee, I put a shit ton of those weird creamer thingies in it. Any flavor will work. A good cold brewed coffee, it gets a warmed cup and nothing else in it.

Gas station coffee is good if you can pilfer a hot coco packet.
