I am about to unload a significant amount of mainland land - 50k+ m. Is it worth even trying to sell mainland land? I need to sell it quickly as I want to tier down, but I would still like to get a little money for it. I have no idea how any of this works anymore - I've not sold land in a very long time.

It depends. I normally haven't bothered, but I haven't ever owned a large enough parcel to be worth the bother.

The tricky part here is "quickly", especially for a large (expensive) parcel.

On the other hand, if it's mainland in a "classic" (Sansar continent) area, you can probably get a very large amount of money for it, even now. Ideally you'd hold on to it (at a profitable price -L$4/sqm or L$10/sqm) until a buyer comes along. But that won't be quick, and it's uncertain.

It might be worth it to break the parcel down into smaller parcels; make the waterfront more expensive, make the inside/landlocked parcels less expensive -as low as L$.5/sqm maybe. No guarentees there either, though.

This is all in theory (I've never had the time and patience to test it), and based on what I saw when I lived on mainland up to this year. I could well be wrong.

If you don't care about how much you get for it, set it low enough for bots to pick it up if you have to be rid of it quickly. That may unfortunately mean going lower than 1L/sq m.

Ask your neighbors if they want any of it.

If it's near anything interesting, or in a historic sim, it may be worth enough to hang onto it until it sells. I paid quite a bit for a parcel within sight of the Ivory Tower.

I've only sold land once, and I was surprised to find it hard sold by the next time I logged in, and for the asking price, too. Sold to a land baron, if memory serves.
That was only 4096 sq m, though. So I guess it depends how much land, and maybe location (mine was beachfront).
But if you're in a hurry, perhaps you could approach the real estate folks directly?
They might offer you less, of course, if they think you're desperate.
Hope this is of some use.

It's nice land with road access and raised water views all around. My suggestion to sell, depending on timing, is to price it at 6-8L/sm and see who bites. Have you considered renting it or parcels of it?

I'm sure there are SLU members who would love to either buy or rent from you, if only out of dealing with a known quantity who won't rip them off, place an offensvie club, or insist everyone have lime green and neon orange siding on their houses. I'd suggest renting, and if they don't cause trouble offer to sell. Remember the community here is an iceberg - you only see the bit on top who are actively talking.

Yeah, whoever owned the land behind me didn't tell anyone bordering when they abandoned it. I probably got the land cheaper from the Lindens, but still...
And I don't know who's going to be behind me, but if they put up something obnoxious I'll just put up a high cliff wall.
I bought my first land from Trasee Darkwatch on SLU, though, so I second Soen's suggestion.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I did sell off some of it already, including my entire Kelham land to a neighbor that lived there. I don't have neighbors in Mavericks as I owned all the land.

I have a 22k m plot of land in Mavericks - roadside on one end, water front on the other, that I'm going to be putting up for sale - 4L/m - there are empty linden water sims on 2 sides of the sim

Let me know if you are interested in any land - i can reparcel it

This is one of the original sims from the first new continent they added. I'm keeping 13k land on the southern end of it.

I am going to bump this one last time - the plot is still available for $40,000L - 16288m. If I don't sell it by tonight I'm going to have to abandon it to avoid tier again. I'd love to sell it to someone who would use it.

I ended up having to abandon it - so if anyone is looking for some land, I don't know how abandoned land works, but there is some nice land in Mavericks.

It's a shame you had to abandon it instead of being able to sell it.

As to how abandoned land works, if my recent experience is typical, it's pretty straightforward: you just go to support chat and tell them you want it, or some of it, and they sell it to you (probably $L1/sq m. sand as me) unless there's some reason why not.

I luckily was able to sell most of the land, it was just the final plot I needed to abandon to avoid another month of $175 tier.

Works out better if it's adjacent to one or more plots you already own. Otherwise, sometimes they'll open it up for sale if you make a request, and sometimes they'll drop it into auctions.
