In upcoming elections there there's going to be strong voter opposition to the new christofascist speaker of the house, and that pressure will also come down against Pence as a presidential candidate. He would have probably had more of chance if the republicans made Gym Jerkoffen their speaker.

I get the impression that republicans want to keep something of a balance between their criminal side and their christian side, for the appearance of legitimacy -and- a focus on making sure their campaign donors are getting the deregulation/subsidies/tax breaks/freedom from class action law suits that they paid for.

Based on what photos I have seen of his events, I am not sure if "gasps" is the right word, since it was more likely just "a gasp".

I don't think that's quite true... he permanently alienated Trump by certifying the election against his wishes. Pence knew the difference between right and wrong and chose right once. ...but he's obviously too much of a coward to actually stand up to Trump in any other meaningful way. I think if he had more of a spine he could have ruffled a lot more feathers by being the one strong Republican candidate willing to tell Trump "You lost, get over it!" but he ultimately chose a combination of virtue and submission that appeals to nobody. He could have become the de-facto leader of the never Trumpers if he wasn't such a coward.

I can't focus enough to make it come out right, but I've got a concept that bad people being needed to muscle the crazy bad people since all the "least bad" people just aren't allowed to have any control over this because the crazy bad people's mistrust of them, and the only thing they can agree on is to force out and primary out the nominally good people because it's so easy to FUD them out of the party and make them unelectable because of all the lies that have been said and implied about the good people because institutes and think tanks have been all crazied up by billionaire crazies so we need the bad people in there because ...
