The mayor of a small Kansas town who cruised to reelection this week has been charged with voting illegally.

Jose "Joe" Ceballos, 54, won reelection in Coldwater, Kansas, on Tuesday. The next day, Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach charged Ceballos with voting in multiple elections illegally, saying he is not a U.S. citizen.
Hey look, they found an "illegal" alien voting in an election. Finally!

That's one out of...uhm...*loses count*

The USA men's hockey team have just been introduced to how Team Trump uses everyone who even briefly genuflects to him.

The leopards chomped on a famous one this time.

Caitlyn Jenner says she cannot travel abroad after her passport was reissued with a male gender marker, a problem she has taken directly to President Donald Trump. The appeal lays bare a personal clash between her political loyalties and the policies now shaping transgender lives in the US.

The sequel will probably be better.

Jenner acknowledged that her high-profile transition in 2015 may not have had the positive impact she once hoped for.

'Unfortunately, I don't think I helped it at all,' she said, adding that while she intended to bring visibility to a marginalised group, the issue was later shaped by political forces she disagrees with. 'The left kind of took my issue.'
"The left kind of took my issue."

What exactly was the plan here?

Be conservative

Become a visible face for transgender women

Use that influence to get MAGA to.... oppress and erase trans people?

Like, did she think trans rights were at all a GOP/Conservative/MAGA issue beyond blind hate? Or ever going to be? Was she going to try to make. MAGA pro trans people, but oh, those wiley commie lefties stole it with their endless empathy!!!! Curse them!!!!

Got to love LGBT+ conservatives. "I swallowed a ton of propaganda produced by people who hate me! I'm smarter than the left!" It show such a weird lack of self awareness. I was raised very Republican but also figured out early on I couldn't comfortably vote for them since i knew I wasn't really the kind of person they like.

I'm not commenting on US issues, but I remember back in the late 1980s/early 1990s, when Margaret Thatcher's government was pursuing the kind of anti-gay agenda more recently associated with US Republicans in some southern states. Then an old friend of mine who really should have been a pillar of his local Conservative Association (from a wealthy "county" background in one of the most Conservative parts of the country) complained that he was completely disenfranchised.

That is, as a gay man he couldn't vote for a party that viewed him and his partner with disgust because of their sexual orientation, but couldn't bring himself to vote Labour either, because despite agreeing with their views on this particular issue, he disagreed with them on pretty much everything else. So he was politically homeless and had no one to vote for. Why, he asked, not unreasonably, should people expect his political alignment be determined by his sexual orientation?

At least, though, he didn't vote for the Conservatives despite their homophobic views, or seek to excuse them.

In general, that's a fair question. ...especially in Europe where many conservative parties aren't nearly the bible thumping hate machine we got over here. It's a bit less legitimate here where democrats are barely left of Republicans on many issues and the GOP is very openly hostile to us.
