I hate the Netflix rating system. I don't know how to rate Connected.
I mean, I love the old BBC show Connections, by James Burke. I think it's the greatest documentary series ever made. So I checked out Netflix's new Connected, thinking it would be similar. It's not, at all. Netflix's Connected is like if you gave a pothead a video camera and a travel budget and told him to remake BBC's Connections, and instead of telling you about inventions, he talks about the natural world, and then instead of telling you about unintuitive connections, he talks about the most obvious, mundane connections you can imagine, but then gets all wide eyed and goes, "isn't that crazy, man?!?!"
So it's a natural sciences documentary for morons. I hate it.
Do I give it a thumbs down? If I do, then Netflix will think I don't like documentaries and reccommend less documentaries, which would be bad. If I give it a thumbs up, then I'm giving it a rating it doesn't deserve, and rewarding people for making bad TV. In the end, I just didn't rate it, and I won't watch a second episode. That seems like a good middle ground.
