Hilariously, former actor turned right-wing provocateur Laurence Fox has found himself charged under this particular clause for sharing, on Twitter/X, an upskirting image of British TV star Narinder Kaur.

From his earlier public statements it seems he thought his actions weren't covered by our legislation to prohibit upskirting. However, say the prosecution, no where in the revised Sexual Offences Act 2003 Section 66A does it say that the images have to be of the sender's genitals.

Case law is clear that, if you publish something on social media you publish it to everyone in the world who has an account, or who may have an account, on that platform, so if Fox intended that Narinder Kaur should see the images, and thereby be caused "alarm, distress or humiliation, " (and it's difficult to argue he didn't) it would seem he's in trouble.

A person (A) who intentionally sends or gives a photograph or film of any person’s genitals to another person (B) commits an offence if—

(a)A intends that B will see the genitals and be caused alarm, distress or humiliation, or

(b)A sends or gives such a photograph or film for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification and is reckless as to whether B will be caused alarm, distress or humiliation.

My go-to response on receiving dick pics is "How cute! It looks just like a penis, only smaller."
A friend of mine's favorite response when she's talking to someone and they suddenly drop one on her is to pretend she's freaked out and demand to know why they're sending her child abuse material.

I've been flashed in RL - on the sodding street - numerous times, and I've been felt up in crowded buses and in the tube. Mostly by lecherous old men; sometimes by shitheads in their 30s to 40s. And on my RL social media (FB mostly), I've had this shit happen a lot. Nowadays, not so often. But when it does happen now, I'm prepared: I have a collection of dick pics that were sent to me and send a bunch of them to the bastard that sent me an unsolicited dick pic. This freaks them out, causing them to block me on the spot.

I've heard sex workers say they do that when they get dick pics. Just send a bigger dick back! Sorry you've been treated so badly Small wonder everyone hates public transport...

In Greece, public transport is downright lethal. It's true it was never worth talking about: in older times, right-wing governments, wanting to promote private "public" transport services (intercity coach buses, taxis, private passenger car sales) did their worst to remove funding from public transport. After the Civil War of 1946-1949, Konstantinos Karamanlis tore out tram lines; half of Greece was left without railroads to incentivise private lorry and intercity coach bus businesses. Urban bus and trolley services suffered from poor cleanliness.

When the financial crisis hit Greece and it was thrown into an austerity maelstrom by Wolfgang Schäuble and his henchmen to "show those lazy Greeks who's boss," maintenance suffered, with trains (intercity and urban) going offline, becoming even dirtier than before, with routes getting massive delays or even cancelled outright. During the rush hours, line 1 of the Athens "Metro" was left with one train every 18 (!!!!) minutes - and I'm talking about the line that connects the northernmost part of the Athens area (Kifissia, the poshest suburb) with Pireas (the port), while serving numerous extremely populous municipalities in between. To make matters worse, due to poor maintenance, many trains were left with five or even four (!!!!) wagons instead of six, so you can guess how crowded it got. So, many people (myself included) had to skip one, two, or even three trains, postponing departure from work to home by up to an hour.

And then came the criminal Mitsotakis regime, which left the intercity and suburban trains to implode, leading to the criminal Tempi (or Tempe, depends on how you choose to spell it) valley rail crash of 2023, where a cargo train and a passenger train collided head-on, causing 57 people to burn to death. The Mitsotakis regime, which astonishingly got re-elected shortly afterwards, sabotages every attempt at actually investigating what went on, with the European People's Party, Renew (Macron's neoliberals) the European Conservatives and Reformists (low-fat fascists), and Patriots for Europe (full-on fascists) helping it in the EU Parliament. The Pirate Party of Greece, breaking away from the increasingly irrelevant European Pirate Party, joins its voice with the socialists and the leftists, and compares the actions of the Italian-owned company (Hellenic Train) and the Greek authorities to those of Alaska Airlines surrounding the crash of flight 261, where skimpng on maintenance, falsifying maintenance records, silencing whistleblowers, and having the FAA turn a blind eye to allow the company to "save money" killed 88 people.

Two years after the Tempi crime, nothing's changed. Numerous transport safety incidents have occurred, with some of them being horrifying near-misses.
