I used to volunteer for an organization named Free Geek in Portland OR. They gave computers to people in need. Their policy with hard drives was to drive three nails through them to destroy all data.

Edit: it's supposed to arrive Monday, DHL. OMG, DHL. I hope they can follow the delivery instructions. I already bought the Red Samurai keycaps for it.

Meanwhile, the Breaking Bad keycaps look better on my white keyboard:

That's the one I had the cherry blossoms on in the first photo.

Put me down as someone who used to work in IT but now has a VERY dim and antagonistic view of Microsoft, especially their shitty Windows 11 product.

Why? It does more to interfere with my work than it does to help. In particular, it keeps pestering me for my password despite me feeling like I re-enter the damned thing multiple times EVERY DAY. And goddess help me if I don't type it in right. I just had to hack my main virtual machine to find the passwords document I keep, but it took me an hour to figure out how to do that (yeh yeh there's a button, leave me alone!). I'm now trying to remove all passwords from the Desktop. I have Bitdefender to stop hackers, and it's worked well for me for years. F***** Microsoft! F**** windows!

It used to actually help me do my work, and now suddenly it does more to interfere and keep me from my work than it does to help!

I sound like a broken record, I know. But I cannot explain how utterly pissed off I am at MS and their shitty software.

I've been saying that for over 40 years now.

And I've swapped out the cherry blossoms on my 75% for a pink theme called "blossom" that was on clearance for $15 marked down from $85. I particularly like how it has an F13 key. It's a huge set, 4 trays with three sets of alternate accents.

Meanwhile the Daring Run keyboard is still in parts, assembly is on hold waiting for parts and a replacement PCB because of a problem with the wireless board.

So far it's about $200 and I don't even have a keyboard yet. And this is a low-mid-range mechanical keyboard. The ones that I really want are all $400-$500 on up.

My smallest keyboard is now this 60%. It's a bit unusual, the lower left quadrant and spacebar rewards some attention.

The smallest left hand segment of the spacebar is the missing shift key.

The 2u key at the bottom labelled shift is actually space, I just couldn't find a 2u space that better fit the profile.

Similarly the "Pause" key is the enter key. The board has an unusual profile so it's hard to find matching keys.

It originally looked like this:

But those black keys made it look gaptoothed.

And my Alice arrived.

Better keys ...

I've put clicky switches under lower and raise so I can hear if I've accidentally navigated to another layer.

Completely redone it with new keycaps and a radically different layout that I think is original with me. I am using it right now to type this message.

I have so many MAO profile keycap sets sitting in my wishlist, still waiting for one that I really like.

Coincidentally, still need to come up with a set for this board.

There's this one but it's $45.00! Plus, I don't know if I could get used to the side labels.
