That smelly stuff comes from Belgium. There is a province Limburg as well (The former duchy Limburg got devided when Belgium became an independent country) To complicate it a bit more, the factory is in the province Liege.
In the past that stuff was made under the name Rommedoe in the Dutch city Maastricht as well.
I love cheese, and this one tastes nice as well, but that damn smell. I never buy it to use it at home.
