So - here we go. Shot at my house, just using a pose from the AO. Signature Geralt body and head. Using skins included. Hair is Peter by Bryce Designs - Ned was wearing an older Bryce Designs style. Outfit is Oliver by Hoornbeeck. Need some mesh eyes, a tux, and maybe 1 more outfit. Yeah, I decided to look like a grownup.

Yeah, I have used the same skin for ages. From System to Applier to BOM body and head.
I had a favorite skin maker, Lumae/Ritual,who seems to have gone inactive for the time being, though she must be planning on more, because there's a new store location. She included everything with her skins: head appliers, body appliers, system skins. I still have them, but they don't seem to suit my newest heads.

I had a weird thing happen today with Wren (my male alt). Approaching the gate to the treasure room in the Twisted Hunt, you have to walk up a series of narrow planks, which is tricky enough under normal circumstances, but Wren's legs randomly did a flip backwards (just the bottom of the legs, like jumping for joy without jumping).
I'm trying to decide if this is A SL thing or a quirk of the body.
Anyone else had this happen? If it's the body I'll have to decide on a new one for him, because it gets annoying real quick.
ETA. It must have been an SL glitch, because on a second try it didn't happen and he got through. Still mulling a body switch for him, though. As with my female alt,it's frustrating to do the hunt, or attend the event and get demos, and find that half the cool stuff just cuts into your body no matter what.

Older man?

Mesh is confusing! However ,I've been reading stuff (Strawberry & the Noob Dude are good) and I'm starting to have a clue.

What if I want to look like an older gentlemen, 50 - 65 years old (maybe an active 70), salt and pepper (or white) beard/hair , with skin that doesn't look young and flawless, but also doesn't look like an 80 year old Grampa.

I've looked for male mature mesh BOM skin or appliers but haven't found anything. Am I using the wrong search terms? Should I be looking for tatoo layers?

Try "wrinkles". That brings up some stuff on MP.

If you have a mesh avatar that is BOM enabled, you could wear your current skin* (as in the skin you were wearing at the parade the other day). It's the mesh avatar part that needs to be BOM (and BOM enabled mesh head, if you wear a mesh head).

It's a quick "short-cut" to look to see if a skin ad says it is BOM, because then it should have something that'll work for a BOM mesh body/head. But it won't work if you do not have a mesh avatar/head that is BOM enabled.

* the problem with older skin is that it tends to have rather horrifying feet issues. A problem solved by never taking off your socks (or shoes). Also solved by some skin makers who make "fixes" for feet & hands. Not all make fixes though. Not all are still in business for that matter.

EDITED TO ADD: Oh, heh. I forgot one thing: be careful and try demos. One of the issues that has come up is that skin seller's tend, now-a-days, to sell skin separately. Like, selling head skin separate from body skin. That way, they can make the body skin 'works best' on a particular mesh body, and make head skin that 'works best' on a particular mesh head.

Bah, reminds me of how much I hate this particular issue for the simple reason that it sometimes takes hours to find where a skin shop sells body skin. And, occasionally, finding out, after hours of looking, that you simply can't find the body skin. Of course, some skin makers only sell skin for heads then say "it matches" some other skin creator's bodies.

I'll have to poke around, I have some Finger & Toe fixes I use with old skins.

People slave over texture and mesh content for weeks and months and then list them with tags that absolutely no one will ever find.

I mean you can’t expect everyone to know how to SEO, but, forget about common tags people will actually search for, sometimes it’s not even categorized right.

I’ve seen a good amount of elderly skins, but they never have a description that would indicate it, they’ll just be named some older generation person’s name, that would have been impossible to think to search for.
