Whoa! I had my hands full just trying to handle 5 accounts. I'd be a blithering idiot if I tried to deal with that many.:LOL:

My doc keeps trying to push me into doing tests I know I really don't need done. The more he pushes, the more I dig my heels in. Your situation is a bit different as there is "reason to believe". Even so, if you feel like things are moving too fast, you have the right to slow things down. Never let them rush you into anything unless it is life threatening. In other words if it's something that must be done immediately or your life is forfeit. And even then if you are feeling rushed you need to voice it. They need to know. Not just for the legalities but for the mental and physical health of the patient. These are things that need to be addressed before any surgeries.

If you (general) have had surgery before, you probably understand what I'm trying to say. If not, well then, I hope you never have to go through it without the reassurances you need so you won't panic just before being put under like I did. Of course, I did tell them they had better knock me out or they were going to have a fight on their hands so they were warned.

Heh, Ledba Loon is in my old store, before I went MP only. That's awesome. :)

Wow, Quip. What a generous impulse, and also, what artistry in constructing those avatars! I cannot imagine learning, even superficially, all those different body huds well enough to actually DO something with so many of them. And shaping even one mesh head makes my RL head ache.

That pic of Jacqueline Laville is hilarious, with the vacuum cleaner. I'm quite sure she's wearing garters and clocked stockings under that long skirt!

Best luck with your surgery and RECOVERY.

Ive never really considered what happens to all my accounts after i die... could probably do a whole thread on Digital presence and securing it.. tho i probably wouldn't want my family knowing my things other then the ability to delete it.

Um, I have one account.

A job I had earlier this year was in the field of advance care planning. This is about making decisions now for your future medical care. It's more obviously a necessity for people diagnosed with terminal illnesses and ageing populations, but anyone could have an accident tomorrow. Who would make medical decisions for you if you couldn't? Would they know what you want? Beyond that, what kind of funeral would you like to have? Questions like that. And of course, if you're young and healthy, your wishes may change over time.

People often think about their homes, the things they want to leave to who, but they rarely consider their digital legacies. Are you on Facebook? Twitter? Gmail? Instagram? Blogging? Flickr? Forums? Virtual worlds? What happens to all of that? It's worth thinking about.

Best of luck with your surgery and recovery, Ryan.

Honestly? My partner wouldn't know what to do with my account. But he WOULD know what to do with my assets- the lindens and various transferable items and half finished projects. I wouldn't want my main to live after me but only a fellow player could be knowledgeable enough about the platform to be the virtual executer of my non physical estate.

I decided it was all too hard to divvy them up, so willed all my social media accounts (the lawyer was a touch old fashioned and couldn't really get his head around actually making money from things like SL and my executor went pale at the thought of having to divvy them up) to a friend of mine - along with my hardware so he can find everything. He's the best choice as he was my dev for a lot of the scripting so he can continue to do any customer service if I pop my clogs before sl closes and he knows how to cash out. With the rest of the royalties he'll just have to work it out.
So Couldbe and Alexia will continue in eternity and I'll be busy making a nice tree grow.

The one thing I suspect everyone forgets is their digital currency wallets - you need to make sure they're identified and willed too. I'd forgotten I had bitcoin.

I never really thought about what to do with my accounts, after losing my main to a ban along with several key business alts...I'm still left with over 50 legacy names that are active (I went register crazy when I heard SL was starting the "resident" program). But like you Ryan, I've had my own health scare with cancer and so far a year into treatment things are looking good. The whole time I feared the worst, my deceased mother's words kept coming back to me. When she was diagnosed, it seemed like nothing phased her...and I found out later her mantra was "a day worrying, is a day lost living". I sure got a chuckle from your blog post when I saw the name Morden Winkler and your anecdote as to it's origins. I drove through those towns quite a bit after growing up in Portage La Prairie and Winnipeg :) All the best to you, I hope your success is like mine....

2006?
I have enough problems handling the inventory from three avatars... I think it would be a full time job to keep track of that many! I had a cancer scare twenty years ago and had to have surgery. One thing a friend told me was to remember that tests and biopsies don't change anything, it is what it is, and all the test is doing is giving you information to be able to make decisions in the future. If you have cancer, the earlier you know the information, the better. Despite all the signs meaning that I was prepared for bad news, mine was not cancer (it was a complex cyst) but you should be gentle with yourself whichever news you get, because the shock and anxiety are the same, either way. I hope that you get good news from the biopsy, and that you have a support network in your other life to help you through it. I found it helped to have someone to listen or make notes, because my ability to retain complex information vanished overnight. Also, to simplify whatever you can in your life to enable you to concentrate on those things that you find important to you. Maybe this is you doing that. Don't cross bridges you haven't come to yet, but if it helps to keep busy and organize avatars...do that, of course. The same friend also taught me an acronym for what to ask the doctors if they suggest a treatment plan: BRAN - what are the Benefits? Risks? Alternatives? What happens if we do Nothing? It's particularly useful if you face choices about this or that treatment. Love and light to you.

Your Avatar Sister Mary Blister just scares me. Really scares me. I knew her about 55 years ago.

Vanity Fair is such a fantastic "Fashionista name" that she should go to a Fashionista. (and one with a large enough shopping budget to properly support her and their own avatar) Though I truly hope that you get to continue using your avatars for a LONG time to come.
