Stupid children will drop hints. A mature woman will just tell you. I will play hard to get in character but out of character I'll just tell somebody I like them and want to role play with them.

That said, many women will still stop just a little short of saying something like "Let's fuck!" or "You should take me out on a date." but generally the more mature a woman is, the more direct she'll be I think. Smiling and touching her hair are inconclusive, but some much more blatant "hints" can be sending racy selfies or complimenting you A LOT.

It helps a lot if you know the specific woman to Beebo's point. Some women get accused of flirting with everyone just because they have a very bubbly demeanor. Some women are very stern unless they really do like you then they are suddenly very bubbly and everything in between. Different people have very different flirtation styles and it helps a lot if you know the person and can compare and contrast how they react to you vs someone else.

It also makes a big difference if you are talking RL vs SL. A lot of SL people are much more forward in SL than probably any of us are in RL...

But honestly, this whole discussion is moot because mature adults should just tell each other they are interested rather than dropping hints or trying to read minds...

As a bi person who dates around a lot I object to the stereotype that men and women are so different.

I get that it's a huge stereotype that straight men don't pick up on women's hints or imagine them, but I do insist this entire discussion can be made pretty gender neutral. It's honestly less about gender and more about age and maturity. Young people are often too scared of rejection to just say they like someone so they play dumb games with hints and mind reading that often results in the person they are admiring never knowing the difference or just being annoyed. Mature adults should just tell them they are interested and that removes all doubt but also risks rejection. It's not that different if you are trying to date a man or a woman or something in between.

It seems that you missed that part during childhood which is called socialisation. As I already told: experience, most people first have some trial and error runs before developing a good enough set of heuristic rules which works well enough for most of their life.
