Here's a good example of what you can get in your budget.

Both are similar to the ibuypower linked above, but there is a choice between AMD and Intel CPUs.
The real choice here is between pink and black.

Obvious choice for me would be the black one, not because I'd be weirded out by a big pink box on my desk but because of the issues with 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs. And with the lack luster performance of Intel's latest CPUs I think AMD is going to be the obvious choice for a while.

Don't forget to throw in $500 for a Barret KL-90 solid wood case-and-keys mechanical keyboard. :)
So I have a brand-new build, along with a brand new 27" monitor, but a wired mouse and ergonomic keyboard that is probably at least 15 years old. Good thing I'm a touch typist because the key labels have mostly rubbed off.

I always over kill. My current build is a i9-9900k that I build in 2018. Its getting very long in the tooth but is still more than powerful to handle everything I throw at it.
I built mine in 2012, so yeah, it was time.

If (or when) you decide to upgrade those, make sure you get them from someplace with easy and free returns. I usually go through several tryouts before I find a new one that feels right.

Good advice. Too bad I read your post a day late.

My keyboard was so old that the new build didn't even have compatible ports to connect to it, so I rushed out and bought a new keyboard. The selection at Best Buy was not good, but hey it's just a keyboard, right?

I HATED IT. The first time I tried to type a comment here on VVO, I HATED IT. Fortunately, my wife was willing to swap her keyboard out for mine. She mostly browses, rarely types, and she had no problems typing on the board.

Go to Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once and select the programs you want installed. It will give you a small download that will install all the apps for you. I even got the corporate account to keep all the work computers updated.
The issue is my ISP and the lousy speed for downloads. EA easily manages the DLC I need, it's just going to take a lot of time to get through the list.

Oh, dear, lol.

I'm a habitual platform switcher, so I was accustomed to a wired Mac keyboard when I built my PC. I can't type on a mechanical keyboard for anything. I settled on a Logitech MX Keys, which was pricey, and it needs to be plugged in often because its backlight keeps turning on and off, but it's the best typing experience I've had outside Mac world. And the backlight is very useful since I'm a troll who lives in a dark cave.

I'm really happy with the Microsoft keyboard I stole swapped out with my wife, and she prefers the keyboard I hated, so all is good now. Every single aspect of my computer system has been updated, and my shelving unit has been completely reorganized. Although I'm still mulling over what to do with my ancient Iomega zip drive/disks that still work, but no one wants.

I'm also really chuffed that I've now checked off one of the major items on my To Do When I'm Retired list. My brain seems to be ever so slowly recovering from years of work abuse. :p

I like my current keyboard, but my favorite has always been the basic HP one they stick in with business PCs. Sometimes simpler is better.

An ex of mine got me into mechanical keyboards. Now I HATE typing on a regular one. Brown switches rule!
