BBC Radio 4 - Just One Thing - with Michael Mosley, Eat Chocolate - Good news! Chocolate can be good for you
Learn more about the health benefits of cocoa.

I wouldnt last a day in a chocolate factory. That would totally be me!

I actually can enjoy dark chocolate under specific conditions. Milk chocolate can stand on it's own. A simple bar of milk chocolate is good, but for me Dark requires something else like strong mint to really work out.I think that those who enjoy or even are less likely to taste the bitterness (coffee, gin and tonics, brussel sprouts, etc.) probably just like it “bitter”.
I enjoy all those things.
Wasn’t there a study that found that people who like the taste of bitterness are more likely to be psychopaths?![]()
Uh oh, I like all those too, plus liquorice, chicory, walnuts and beer. And being a psychopath, apparentlyI think that those who enjoy or even are less likely to taste the bitterness (coffee, gin and tonics, brussel sprouts, etc.) probably just like it “bitter”.
I enjoy all those things.

Bitterness Psychos of the world… UNITE!
When I was little, my mother was making chocolate frosting with "Baker's Chocolate" (bitter!); I asked her if I could have a piece, and she gave me a little piece. I, of course, loved it and asked for more. She gave me a LOOK and asked me, "Whose child are you?"Bitterness Psychos of the world… UNITE!
I like dark chocolate way more than milk chocolate, but Baker's chocolate by itself? No. Eww!When I was little, my mother was making chocolate frosting with "Baker's Chocolate" (bitter!); I asked her if I could have a piece, and she gave me a little piece. I, of course, loved it and asked for more. She gave me a LOOK and asked me, "Whose child are you?"
100 percent agree on both counts! I remember finding a box of baker's chocolate once when I was a kid. I broke off a piece, took a big bite, and promptly spat it back out. It was quite the experience I never repeated.I like dark chocolate way more than milk chocolate, but Baker's chocolate by itself? No. Eww!
Well, yes, but it's delicious lead/cadmium.... is dark chocolate safe now? Weren't there warnings about lead/cadmium levels in dark chocolate like 2-3 years ago?
I'm not going to say how often mom found my teeth marks on her baker's chocolate... other than that it was -not- an isolated incident. It was quite the experience I never repeated.

Slides off to store clutching wallet......he said the lab-based chocolate was “basically identical” to dark chocolate in texture and similar in taste to flavourful dark chocolates from South America. “The sweetness released in your mouth is slightly slower than if you eat traditional dark chocolate – and you have more of these fruity notes and acidity coming from the juice.”
