Police track down unlikely shoe thief from Japanese kindergarten

Police and staff were initially flummoxed when shoes started disappearing from a kindergarten in south-west Japan, not least because the “thefts” were of single shoes, not pairs.

Unable to get to the bottom of two incidents reported earlier this month, police installed three security cameras in the hope the thief would strike again, according to the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper….

Ferrets are very smart. I laughed so hard when I read this!

"When ferrets poop, they crouch and arc their tails up and over their body. It's a very distinctive pose. My old ferret used to climb onto my mother's shoes, position his butt over the inside of the shoe, and take this pose. He'd sit there and wait until she walked by and noticed him. She'd run over there, screeching at him, trying to save her shoes from a stinky ferret poop. As soon as she reached him, he'd run away, making a chuckling sound while my mother frantically checked her shoes for poop. He never actually pooped in any shoes; he was just an ass.

"This same ferret would be very social when we had guests over, but sometimes, he'd disappear for a while. We'd assume he was napping somewhere. Wrong. He would hide behind the toilet, waiting. When a guest finally had to use the facilities, he'd wait until they'd sat down and began to relieve themselves, then would jump up and smack their ass with his paw. We'd hear a scream from the bathroom and knew he'd found another victim."

I once had a cat that would put his paws under the bathroom door and slap peoples feet when they used the restroom. Scared the heck out of my Aunt.
