No this is just Trump trying to "slap back" after Canada imposed a mandatory 2-week quarantine on all Americans entering the country. This makes it look like there's something wrong with the US, so Trump during his news conference today started muttering incoherently about....steel dumping? And that's why troops need to be at the border, to prevent steel smuggling? Or some damn thing. It's a lame attempt at tit-for-tat; but in reality there's only one tit and its name is Donald Trump.

there has been a spike of 400 cases being reported in Florida. Most of them coming from Miami Dade county. Mayor has used his power to trigger an extended local state of emergency. The latest Emergency order has a stay at home request for anyone over the age of 65 to limit their exposure. They fail to understand that due to the rising cost of rent allot of younger adults are living with their parents, grand parents, guardians and still have a heavy chance of exposure/spreading. Theres also a curfew being put in place form 10pm to 5am. They keep insisting that a lockdown isnt practical..will see about that >.> Cops are being asked to monitor businesses to help crack down on ones that are still open that shouldn't be.

seems overall everyone is reaching their mental limit... each county and city are trying to do their own things while the state refuses.

So far they are staying home allowing for short walks (my brother says it is safe for them to do that).

My parents and my brother's family are down there. My brother and myself are taking this VERY seriously. I can not shake the feeling that our parents are just humouring us though when we keep calling them. So far they are staying home allowing for short walks (my brother says it is safe for them to do that).

Its pretty quiet here, but my spouse and I have started taking walks - the one time we ran into someone else going the other way, we just all swerved to give space. but fresh air is supposed to be good for you, and exercise, so....

That is good to hear. Being in an urban area I tend to be a bit overly cautious of crowds but am still worried about the beach situation down there.

That's the point though, official numbers. I call BS on the China curve so hard. Plateu'd since the 15th? 81k total cases with only 3k remaining active? China is suppressing numbers hard, given that in all the other countries the curves are going up up up.

Normal preface of I am not a doctor, please consult your own medical professional. Rang my doctor this morning. I expected a normal response of "Oh! the internet!" from him, but in fact he was up to speed about the information coming out of Italy, and agreed to change my medication from an ACE inhibitor to amlodipine from today. Official advice is still not to change people's medication. That may be revise once the system has had a chance to look at the information from our own population.

He said that the choice between medication for high blood pressure was a balance of things. ACE inhibitors protect the kidneys, and for people who are at risk of kidney disease are the far better choice, also for those with history of heart disease or stroke. It's a balance, and apparently Amlodipine has a variety of not very comfortable side effects which are usually transient, and does not provide kidney protection. His view was that I should switch but the dangers for my ex were in the other direction and he should not. So it's a case by case thing.

The point is that if you know you are on the drug and it increases your risk of catching the virus and of getting the serious symptoms like pneumonia, you have to behave as though you are in the shielded group, don't go out of the front door, and don't take ANY risks with deliveries or visitors at all.

What I find odd is all the fuss made about travel to China or Italy. Maybe those guidelines worked a week or so ago but now they are just strange.
