Mechanical Keyboards, I can't be the only person here into them.

I'll start... size does matter.

Smaller the Better. On the front row, tapping gets the numbers, holding the key down and pressing another one gets them to act as modifiers.

Vader edition. Blue switches for home. Brown for the office. =^-^=

*Note: doesn't matter to me if the keys are printed or not. It's on a shelf under my desk anyway. Haven't seen the keyboard in months.

Well, I loved my G15 for home use. But for work, I hauled around several Cherry keyboards:

For some reason the white versions seemed to have tracking issues with the trackball. Sadly my last employer would just toss these into the trash despite being on the required order list for store builds. I do have half a dozen saved ones.

I have an EVGA Z15, it came with the PC.

It had a matching mouse which the wheel broke on, which is apparently a common issue. I replaced it with something, then discovered it was still in warranty and didna warranty replacement, they sent a newer X20 mouse.

I use a static light set up with the numbers and WASD and the side controls glowing different colors.

From a distance it looks like a box with dice in it.

It's MOA profile. Which is kind of amazing to type on, the distinct spherical cups make the keys easy to locate and the rounded edges feel so smooth.

Zebrawood with a brass plate, it's like something from a steampunk detective novel by William Gibson.

The numpad case is made of Lego, because sometimes you have to go crude to get technical.

I need a number pad for grading. Plus media controls. And uses the same software as other system components because there are too many background programs already.

Yeah, I thought this was going to be a tabletop games thread at first.

I always really like those with the wood style case on them like that.

I'd love to have one of these, but I think the noise would annoy my wife and son too much!

Hey, anyone up for spending more on your keyboard than the computer you hook it up to?

For [up to] $2,100, you could buy over a dozen upper-quality mechanical keyboards. Alternatively, you could buy just one mechanical keyboard kit. Costing the same as a desktop computer, The Icebreaker keyboard commands one of the highest price tags you'll see for a keyboard, and that's more due to its appearance than its capabilities.

The Icebreaker, spotted by Tom's Hardware, became available for preorder on Thursday. The prohibitively priced peripheral is the primary product from Serene Industries, which founder Denis Agarkov describes as an “outlet for creativity, love of materials, experimentation, and an endless exercise in learning new things."
In a February interview with Design Milk, Agarkov said that the profile view of New York City’s Flatiron skyscraper inspired the keyboard’s design.
Looks more like an attempt to turn the Cybertruck into a keyboard, but whatever. One of the interesting features is the keycaps, which are sold separately (for an additional 415 bucks!) and sport 800 or so micro-perforations that allow LED light to pass through, and provide the keys' legends.

Anyway, I'll pass.

And this one is supposedly $8607 and is custom made for each order:

My nerdbrain worries about metal/weighted keycaps would impact my typing speed. Even flat (Apple) keycaps throw me off.

They are metal plated which would probably mean they add nothing to the weight. Think of aluminum foil except much thinner.
