So I've owned my house for 4 years now and have had over 8 random cats come visit over the years, some quite often. We've been feeding the most recent cat for several months and on July 23 she actually came inside on her own and stayed. The next day Joanie is in a panic over some of the old wounds she has. So one wrestling session later, traumatized cat in the carrier and at the vet. She checks out fine, and is not chipped so we become her moms and get her shots done. Vet says she's like 2 years old but doing very well. She also says she is not pregnant. So as she has been eating a lot and getting a bit chunky, I presumed due to the abundance of food available so she's gorging.
Today she was acting out of sorts, back to lurking under the couch. She comes out around 2pm and Joanie freaks out as Ghost (our sweet two year old all white new cat) has some blood on her girl parts. She's on the phone with the vet, Ghost goes back under the couch. The couch is a heavy SOB with recliners on each end so Ghost has picked the more secure middle section as her base. We both freak out at what little we can see. There's Ghost, a grey new born kitten and a white new born kitten. We cancel the vet appointment and Joanie is getting all the info about cats and newborns as neither of us have experienced this part of cat ownership. Ghost comes out, eats some and goes back. Joanie checks under the couch again, and we have another kitten all white in colour with their older siblings.
So now we have three new borns that Ghost is feeding and grooming and doing a good job. Ghost has become more talkative, her meow is more of a squeak and she has a weaponized silent meow she uses on Joanie with devastating results.
