I am hoping that this big blue wave is a good thing, but I fear that it's going to make Trump become even more unhinged than he already was. The only good I can see is that maybe some of the MAGA morons will finally wake up to the evil they've unleashed. Unfortunately, I think some of them are so far gone that Trump could come out and say, That's right! I'm the anti-Christ! Deal with it bitches, and they'd still be like, "Yay!"
1. Being "too far gone" is pretty much a prerequisite for becoming MAGA.

2. No, the other Republicans won't "wake up" now. Trump and MAGA didn't corrupt the Republican party, they're a result of the corruption that has existed and grown in the Republican party since Nixon.

3. This blue wave won't "make" Trump become even more unhinged. Trump will become more unhinged, period. If it's not Democrats winning elections, then it will be some random comedian, or Newsom posting a funny meme, or people protesting against the regime.

More on the NYC mayoral election: The MAGAs are pissed!

MAGA also fixated on the Republican candidate in the race, Curtis Sliwa, whom they accused of splitting the vote away for a chunk of change.

“You split the fucking vote for $7 fucking million dollars [sic], you are a scumbag. I hope every New Yorker spits in your fucking face every single day,” said David Rem, Donald Trump’s childhood friend. “You fucking sold out like fucking Judas sold out fucking Jesus.… Go fuck yourself.”

Where Rem got that cash figure is not exactly clear, but Sliwa could have made more by dropping out: The Guardian Angels founder told The New Yorker Monday that he had been offered $10 million across seven different bribes to step aside in the race.
Really, guys? Cuomo's your real splitter here. He had his chance during the primaries and lost. Instead of taking his lumps like a sincere politician, his efforts to wedge himself back into the election as an independent shows he was planning to spoil all the shit. It's Sliwa (and all of you) who should be pissed at Cuomo. Sliwa was your OFFICIAL REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE!

I'm not a fan, but with all the news emerging about him lately, Sliwa is looking pretty damn good in comparison to Cuomo.

The Democrat and the former Democrat together got 92% of the vote. The Republican got under 8%. Mandami won an outright majority, something Trump has never done.
Better yet, with 98% of the votes counted, Cuomo's and Sliwa's combined wins are just 48.7%. Which as math nerds would point out, is not a majority. Mamdani's 50.4% is, though.

Some good news from Mississippi.

After 13 years, Mississippi Democrats have broken the Republican Party’s supermajority in the Mississippi Senate. Voters elected Democrats to two seats previously held by Republicans, reducing the number of Republican senators in the upper chamber from 36 to 34—one fewer than necessary to constitute a supermajority.

When a party has supermajority status in the Mississippi Senate, it can more easily override a governor’s veto, propose constitutional amendments and execute certain procedural actions.

The Mississippi Democratic Party called the victory “a historic rebuke of extremism.”

Mamdani got over 50% of the votes. So even if all of the Sliwa voters had voted for Cuomo (extremely unlikely), then Cuomo would still have lost.

And I think Sliwa actually did point out that Cuomo was the one who should have dropped out after losing the Democratic primary election in June. Instead, he ran as an independent candidate.

Sliwa can still go f*** himself for this:

I read up on Sliwa's Wiki page. Dude is pretty socially progressive and seems to hate Trump and MAGA. He has a massive hate boner for crime. I feel like trying to bribe him to drop would have only increased his resolve to stay in the race. Even the shots of the ballot choices he just has this, friendly and smug "fuck you bitches, I am running" look on his face.

I kind of like the dude a bit more for this imagined attitude. Like he is a nutter, but he isn't a MAGA nutter.

Trump reacts to ego injury with violence. He is incapable of any other reaction. Ironically, that will probably hurt his standing even more in the long term, but in the short term people are going to get hurt.
Mr. Manbaby with a narcissistic injury licking his emotional 'wounds' - retaliation could ensue, given his historical responses. Let us hope for better, though, given the blue wave style of these wins. I'm very heartened for democracy right now, but not naive.

Trump also looks for people to blame for his failures. It would be very entertaining if he decided Russell Vought was to blame for tanking poll numbers....

I saw Dems win big in special elections last time only to be buried by Trump. I continue to hold my breath.

... and finally I proofread my post and put in the oft-missed indefinite article that keeps going walkabout on me. Yaay ...
