Anyone else get a "message" about avatarlife.com in world? I kind of did but didn't. It went to my email as I was offline and never saw an inworld message.

The object 'www.avatarlife.com' has sent you a message from Second Life:
Hi Caete Chevalier I am Alice! I saw this new world called AvatarLife ( www.avatarlife.com ) it is identical to secondlife. They offer free land to all residents. Why not come over and grab a free land for yourself?

AvatarLife has a great website and great customer support to help residents around the clock. The official AvatarLife viewer allows even VIDEO calling apart from normal voice calling on Windows. (Mac version is under development.)

AvatarLife also has a Marketplace, premium memberships and a free-play gaming in-world! Check it out once you have your free land!

In July 2024, AvatarLife is Launching a VIP Pass system for its gamers. Residents who buy a VIP Pass for 20 USD get gaming credits of 60 USD+ and this can be cashed out!

The site is not too bad in appearance but the marketplace has very little content and seems to be heavily gambling orientated. Heck even their attract video video on the site shows a lot of gambling machines.

About them:

The AvatarLife virtual world is developed by Gamingverse Private limited registered in India.

Gamingverse Private limited develops the core of the software required for AvatarLife the metaverse.

AvatarLife is a Web 3.0 native gaming company. We build games for the metaverse and offer a wide variety of games from PvP to PvE, P2E to free-play. Our focus is to build player-first games. AvatarLife also has our OpenSim Metaverse with games and other attractions.

Business Partners
Jejudoge
Jejudoge is a cryptocurrency on the Ethereum blockchain. Jejudoge token is proud of its strong features and its association with the Jejudoge dog breed in South Korea.

So yeah, I'm getting shady vibes off them so if you check them out, be careful. The whole India aspect makes me dubious af about any transactions. Also only 681 unique visitors to the website at this time...

Nope. But see above - Web 3.0? Only shitty and shady companies still use that term. Just skip it.

Hi really sorry to hear it! But web3 is going to be future, trust me or not! We are currently similar to SL with new features (which SL also don't have yet) but in future, we will be bettter than SL in terms of features and accesibility.

The blockchain bubble is over. It's not even a hyped buzz word any longer, the new buzz is AI and LLM. So nope, Web3 is as dead as a dodo.

Hi everyone,

I saw this thread, and would just like to add a few words about my experience of Avatarlife. And I must stress that I do not work for Avatarlife, and have nothing to gain by promoting it!

I'm a former Second Life resident, and a current resident of Avatarlife. I can see why unsolicited spam inworld in SL does make Avatarlife seem a bit shady, but I can assure you that it isn't - it's a virtual world very similar to SL (although admittedly much smaller!)

I joined Avatarlife 3 years ago, after seeing Naria Panthar do a Youtube video about it. Naria obviously felt that Avatarlife didn't compare very favourably to SL (although there have been many improvements since then), but I was tempted to join Avatarlife when Naria said they were giving away a whole region for free to all new residents. I'd become tired of how expensive land is in SL. My main enjoyment in SL was building, but unless I paid for a premium membership so I could use the premium sandboxes, or paid to buy or rent land, I had nowhere to build other than public sandboxes full of trolls.

So I joined Avatarlife, and I was given a whole region all to myself for free! I didn't want to put any money into buying Avatarlife currency as I wasn't sure at that point if I would stay, but I found that there were plenty of freebies available, so I soon had quite a lot of stuff in my inventory to decorate my land with. It was wonderful to have a decent sized area of land that I could have a proper go at landscaping, as I'd never been able to afford to own or rent anything bigger than a 1024 metre parcel in SL.

Unfortunately, Avatarlife stopped giving away free regions some time ago. For a while, new residents still got a quarter of a region for free, but sadly the free land offer has now ended. However, new residents do still get a house on a small parcel of land for free. There are also regular competitions, where the prize is a free region.

Land is still available to anyone who purchases a premium membership - their cheapest premium membership costs $6 a month/$60 a year, which comes with homestead land with a 3750 prim allowance, and a weekly stipend of 150 AV$.

If you visit the Avatarlife website, it may seem to be geared towards gaming and encouraging users to buy Avatarlife currency, but when you join there's no pressure to do any of that if you don't want to. I've never paid a penny into Avatarlife. I enjoy building, and with the building skills I learned in SL I've made and sold a few things on Avatarlife's marketplace, which earns me more than enough to get by. You don't need to spend anything if you don't want to - there are several freebie shops where you can get decent free avatars, heads, skins, clothes, houses, furniture, landscaping items, building stuff, textures, scripts etc, and when you go exploring you can often find full perm items that you can right-click and take a free copy of. There are also shops where you can buy things if you have money to spend, although of course nothing on the scale of what's available to buy in SL.

If your main enjoyment in SL is shopping, and constantly upgrading your avatar with the latest body/head/skins etc, then Avatarlife may not be for you. But if like me, you just want your own corner of a virtual world that you can escape to, and do your own thing without anyone bothering you, or a place to hang out with friends (without it costing you a fortune!), then maybe give Avatarlife a try. You've got nothing to lose.

Although Avatarlife is obviously much smaller than SL, in a way I think that's part of it's charm. It feels like a community, whereas SL is so vast it's easy to feel lost or a bit lonely.

If anyone does join Avatarlife, my region is called Enchanted, you can find it on the map. Drop by and say hi! :)
