I'm so hooked on making absurd stuff in stable diffusion. Now I'm trying to have it make 'coffee shops an Elvan Steampunk city' ... I may need an intervention. ;)

You need to put some people into it.

Oh so close! Aw. Her left hand looks good but then I looked at her right hand...oops. Someone could fix in PS. 😇

Other than the usual AI's can't draw hands (many artists can't either) this is a lovely image. Even more so since it is flawed just as everything in existence has at least one flaw. There is no such thing as perfection in the universe. Which is another way of saying humans shouldn't expect AIs to be perfect since they were created by imperfect humans. And that is where the issue lies. We know what monstrosities humans are capable of. We can only imagine what monstrosities AIs are capable of. Humans do have vivid imaginations. If a human can conceive of things like the Holocaust gas chambers...

Part of me wants that "robot companion" but another part of me is scared shitless of it.

Thankfully, until such time as they give AIs hands they can draw with, while AIs may "ruin" digital art for artists, AIs can never replace traditional mediums (oil canvas, pottery etc.).

Actually making AI draw correct hands is one big area those companies behind the AIs are working on right now. The underlying problem is that these AIs are just fed by a stream of pictures, where certain areas are selected and to these selections they do get descriptions - normally only hand. So they do have an idea how a hand looks like, but they don't know how hands do work. Which is why hands as well as limbs are often in really weird poses. So far Midjourney seems to have made some progress on that with their most recent models.

There is a reason why so many artists avoid drawing hands. They are the most difficult part of the human body to draw.

The Stable Diffusion XL model v0.9 has been released. Well, mostly to researchers. Anyway, this is their latest and greatest, which should battle Midjourney and Photoshop. And it's looking full of promise.

Time for gross pizza again!
