Decades ago we were planning to move to Texas because of cheaper home prices. In the time since, I have thanked my lucky stars that our plan failed. Texas seems to have suffered a complete takeover by malevolent assholes.

In many businesses managers are pushing back against both work from home policies that worked without a decrease in productivity during Covid and DEI initiatives that have been proven to help companies financially. I would argue that resistance to both of these are because the require managers to give up some control and require increased communication. Hopefully the future is not so top-down as younger workers are insisting on better conditions.

I've begun phrasing such phrases "8 men control as much wealth as 3.6 billion people." The term control, the idea that a few people are controlling your ability to earn and save, effectively aggravates people into considering reality. "8 men hoard as much wealth as 3.6 billion people" also gets people's attention. But the Deplorables still think that's okay and that they'll one day be successful Hoarders as well. But they really really hate the idea that someone is controlling their future.

Hoorah!

Volkswagen workers vote overwhelmingly to join the UAW, giving the union a groundbreaking win
Hourly workers at Volkswagen’s plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee overwhelming voted to join the United Auto Workers late Friday, a major breakthrough in the union’s effort to organize workers at plants nationwide.

Shortly after 11 pm ET on Friday the National Labor Relations Board, the federal body that oversees such votes, announced that 73% of the 3,600 workers at the plant who cast ballots had voted in favor of joining the union. There was an 84% turnout among eligible voters.
