no, it's cavemen talk for "us a(re) strong" he might be ignorant at many thing but you gotta admit he knows what his moronic base likes...

PS: it also sounds a little bit like a desperate last ditch parole...
Whether it's caveman-ish or not - if you attend sporting or other large events, its not uncommon for chants of "USA, USA" to break out.

Great - even with our relatively low numbers [compared to some], and decent reaction from our mayor, we're 100% have an epidemic. I'll guess its all those spring breakers, since if you look at the tracking from just Fort Lauderdale, a good number headed home on I-10... and of course, we had our own spring breakers, here, too.....
And my mom's county only has a slightly less definitaly a epidemic...
*sigh*

Boris Johnson was admitted to the hospital yesterday for what at the time was called "precautionary tests"; but today it's been reported he has been moved to the ICU with severe coronavirus symptoms.

What happens if the prime minister dies? Does somebody from his cabinet take over, or the shadow prime minister? Do they have a whole new election... again?

Normally you don't go to a hospital on Sunday for precautionary tests. Those can wait until Monday.
Leaders always have trouble to admit that they have health problems.
Him going to the ICU that fast after admittance is not a good sign. IMHO.

There are no general elections needed in that case.
There will be an election procedure in his party (the Conservatives) though.
But let's hope he will recover.

Yup, just announced on BBC.

And...

The UK does not have a formal constitutional role of a deputy or caretaker prime minister to step in if he or she is incapacitated, says the Institute for Government (IoG).

However, the prime minister usually designates someone to perform his duties, were something to happen.

At the beginning of the outbreak, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab was announced as the UK's "designated survivor". Downing Street has confirmed he is now taking charge where he is needed.

The IoG says, were a prime minister to die in office and there was a majority government (as there is now), it would be up to the cabinet to recommend an immediate successor to the Queen.

But we are nowhere near that point, with No 10 saying Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care as a precaution.

But not surprising. He was going around shaking hands and totally ignoring any social distance protocol. Wtf did he think would happen?
He was even bragging about it, IIRC. His point at the time was that the virus wasn't bad enough to really worry about.

I hope he'll be okay; I don't want ANYONE to die from this thing - but sheesh if there was a guy who was begging for it...

I'm not really satisfied with the position taken by Dr. Patrice Harris on hydroxychloroquine in this interview. She's President of the American Medical Association and says she would not prescribe it to anyone. In this interview she emphasizes that it could kill a patient and takes a bureaucratic line of "It's not approved, so I won't use it."

Drugs are often prescribed by doctors for off-label uses. Just because it is not officially approved for some use does not mean it cannot be prescribed. That's where anecdotal evidence comes from that prompts studies that lead to becoming officially approved. Also, the drug is quite old and one could argue that its side effects are probably better understood than newer medications. It could be harmful, but doctors know the risks and should balance those risks with the risks of doing nothing or trying some other less familiar drug. It has been used in South Korea and China, and limited non-placebo trials have demonstrated benefits.

I suspect she is motivated in her statements more by the problems of hydroxycholoroquine hoarding and the needs of lupus and rheumatoid arthritis patients which is understandable, but she does not talk about that. It reminds me of face masks. In the Asian Boss interview of Dr. Kim from South Korea, he was mystified by countries at that time advising against wearing masks unless it was due to shortages. It strikes me that Harris has been caught up in the soap opera generated by Trump, and CNN in promoting this video (currently on cnn.com coronavirus playlist) is using that soap opera for their news.

Gov. Cuomo seemed to have a more reasonable response to the question in his briefing today. where he mentions that hospitals can use it at their discretion and that limits have been placed on prescriptions to prevent hoarding.

That map is running behind. It shows my county at 99% with 27 cases. We're at 54 cases now.
We're currently with 15 cases for our zip code, 136 for the county. For Florida that's still a fairly light touch, but then, half the county is rural...

My mom's county was at 50 cases last night, haven't looked today yet.

Maybe he's a betting man which reminds me of a COVID disco song. "Odds were in my favor, I had 'em five to one."
