Setting aside that you can get two weeks worth of food for about $25 and store it in a very small amount of space (I do it every year), no one is suggesting anyone go more than a week without a way to get supplies. That isn’t even the case in countries with far less liberty than ours. It’s not the way it’s ever been done here following disasters. If the whole point is to help keep things orderly no one is going to suggest rules that incentivize people to break them. No one’s judging you or Spirits for living in small spaces or wanting to be sure you are able to get supplies. This has been said multiple times now, so as far as I can tell you just want to be upset at something.
Thank you for clearing that up.

But you can fuck right off with the psychological analysis.

Pull off what? Providing practical information instead of trying to play oppression olympics? The availability of meds and food has nothing to do with whether or not we go into a semi-lockdown mode to keep the virus from spreading, and I’m telling you from experiences that if shortages do occur you want the distribution of available supplies to happen in an orderly, safe atmosphere and not leave people to their own devices. My meds aren’t going to magically appear anymore than anyone else’s but giving other people irrational fears over something that may need to happen is selfish and unnecessary.
Don't try to make it as if you were discussing. You called a longstanding honorable member an asshole.
That was what happened.
And now you try to make yourself look good again as if you were discussing.
A "sorry" would be more appropriate, madam.

I can't see why some people think it is a good thing you visit here again. Sorry.
You seem to be full of an overdose of self importance.

And that Milady ends my discussions with you. Have a nice life.

You'd have to ask them,

Sorry I keep forgetting no one is allowed to have heath problems or have known dire circumstances except you.
I was posting in solidarity with Spirits. Plus I’m sure there are plenty of people here in situations something like ours, that’s my whole point. I haven’t said anything about being unique - but you are back to the psychoanalysis again. It’s B.S.

Is that the new 'shrill'? :)
Evidently talking about my situation is a “persecution complex.”

But it’s not rare, it’s *common* and it’s going to get *more common* and I don’t think it takes a complex to see it.

I know the ignore button isn’t perfect but really, it helps. There are people we simply don’t get along with. Life is too short.
The ignore button works for someone long gone like Bubba. For whatever reason, Salome is popular here. It can't be ignored or I will miss the conversation. I think it is horrific the way she goes on with her anger and bashes anyone who gets in her way, hurts them and doesn't care.

Beau talks about the mathematics of martial law. Basically, the US Army is not big enough to occupy the USA, so coast-to-coast martial law probably can't happen.

For martial law you would prioritize where troops were sent. There would be no use sending troops to most of the country (maybe a few at most) as people are already spread out. Where you would want them are the areas around cities and we have plenty of troops. You could have a good fraction of the country under martial law just with the boston/nyc/philly/baltimore/DC areas and their suburbs.

In a hopeful sign, one person in Japan, which had a run on toilet paper about a week before the USA did, is reporting that there is so much toilet paper that nobody is buying it anymore.
The run on TP started here with a twitter rumour that it was made in China of the same material face masks were. The government and the media were quick to point out that most TP sold in Japan is made in Japan from recycled milk cartons.
That calmed things down quite a bit.

Add to that the new law about reselling facemasks with price gouging ... and the fact we use less TP than a lot of western countries due to many people having washlet toilets...

What he's completely missing is that aside the army and regular reservists the government most likely would try to build and recruit new armed militias with volunteers at large quite quickly.

First of all, in emergencies you make space when you have to. An extra week or two of emergency food does not require a bank vault. But, once more, no one is suggesting that people aren’t going to be allowed out to get necessary items at regular intervals so all this drama about it is pretty much just choosing to be angry at a made-up problem.
You do realize I am one of the people on here who prepares for emergencies, right? I know a bit about the logistics of doing so like what to buy and what not to buy. :)

The fact is you can often prepare for a few days to a week for most emergencies in an apartment. Not always though as it all depends on your situation. As I have tried to say though some meds you can NOT get an advance supply of. There is also a limit to how much you can prepare of some things too, for example, ever try getting a second fridge in an apartment?

We discussed this in a preparation thread not too long ago. Anyone re-read any of that recently?

I eat at least one meal a day that is basically a DIY soylent. Protein powder, oat flour, oat bran, water, nutrients, multivitamin. Fats eaten separately, from a spoon. None of it requires refrigeration. I have enough to last a couple months as my sole food source, if I needed to. Wouldn't be fancy eating but I wouldn't starve. And it's something I could prepare in my own room. Still orderable from Amazon. The quality of ingredients available locally on EBT may not be as good.
More power to you. I have tried it before and if I had a choice between soylent or dirt it would be a tough call.

Where the fuck are you living - and shopping - that $25 dollars gets you two weeks of food?

Further, it is rather telling that you - like Pamela - choose to focus on that but ignore or handwave the issue of medication.
