"Once I start working here, are the other employees exempt from testifying against me in a court of law?"

Man... I've interviewed so many people over the years who found various ways to blow their interviews. My two favorites real quick:

me: So how do you do [basic thing in a technical skill she had on he resume.]

She gave a totally absurd answer that proved she had no idea what that was.

Me trying to keep a poker face: ...okay.

She then does a celebration dance in her seat because she thought my reaction meant she nailed it! I had to awkwardly talk to her for another 30 minutes as if she didn't totally blow it right away.

--------------------

Another that comes to mind:

My manager at the time: So how would you describe your skills with [language that was essential for the job].

He proudly tells us "Oh, I never got into that very much. That was more for YOUNGER GUYS!"

He seriously said it with a tone that suggested he thought this was a sign of how seasoned and experienced he was.

Would it also be a good way to blow an interview?
Problem is, it might take longer than 30 seconds. Unless you're asking the right kind of questions.

I interviewed hundreds of candidates.

The one full red flag NOPE, that still stands out in my mind was the candidate who nearly opened with "So, you should probably let you know that I got kicked out of Sunday school. For asking too many questions."

"... That's great but I asked you to tell me about some of your accomplishments... Oh. I see. Any others? No? Thank you for your time.

LMAO. "My entire personality is that I'm an edgy atheist, and I can't put that aside to act normal in a job interview."
