So...it has been four years and some odd months and days since I last logged into Second Life. Can anybody catch me up on stuff I need to grab for my avatar? Are the mesh bodies I had back then still good?

Bodies should be okay but depending on the maker, may no longer be supported by other merchants. Legacy and Reborn are still going on, Maitreya had a new version from 5.3 to Larax 1.1 which is a free upgrade, just go to their store. I'm seeing less Kupra and Kemono stuff.

Get ready to be dazzled by PBR. Or not.

If you happen to walk by a mirror and see yourself in it, it's not a mirage.

I'm good for now, until I stop being lazy and get a new CPU. My current one is big mad at me

Switching to an entry level gaming lap top fixed it for me. My old one was seriously showing it's years, as I'd bought it used in May 2020.

I actually bought it on the very day of the first George Floyd protest, before everything burned down. We did the exchange in the parking lot where everything blew up. There were no signs of danger and was mostly empty, before it started filling up for the protest, which I didn't even know was going to happen, or where.

I got a weird feeling, and I never got out of anyplace faster ever in my life before, even though everything was normal. I still don't know I was so afraid.

I run SL on an 8core from the very much deprecated FX series by AMD... runs fine for me (and helps with heating in winter).

I'm running an AMD Ryzen 5 3600. So 6 cores. I definitely need to update that. Everything else is groovy

Is 6 cores outdated? I just looked at my specs, and I have AMD Rysen 5 5600X 6-core.

I would think not. I'm wondering if it has something to do with bandwidth settings/draw distance. Right now they're at default but there is an option to increase my bandwidth. So in theory if I max out bandwidth (I have an 8gb connection) and slightly decrease draw distance it should be better.

Hex-core CPU's with hyperthreading are still probably the most common CPU out there.

/me is running an i5-14400F (6 hyperthreaded performance cores + 4 singlethreaded efficient cores, 16 total threads), and a RTX 4060.

Updated to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800x. Much much better. Also tossed the old AIO and am using the Thermaltake Peerless Assassin. Can run SL on Ultra now and not have my PC melt.
