I still love SL and log in every day. I also only consume so I don't have anything to contribute in the areas of building or tech or such.
My interests have changed over time. "Been there, done that. I still have my little club and one event per week which is more than enough social interaction for me these days. I'm never bored. There's loads of stuff to do in SL if you're someone who enjoys solitary pursuits, which is where I am now.
One reason there may be less SL discussion here is that there's other places to do so? The official blog has improved, they're trying bless their hearts. There's Inara Pey and Strawberry Singh... to name a few. There's quite a lot of SL related informative content out there where people are also yakkin it up. Maybe that's where the young folk are?
But SL on mobile or tablet is a limited experience at best. I can't see that as a feasible future market.
I never thought I'd enjoy a mobile version of The Sims but I absolutely love it. Mobile IS a limiting, different experience but I think if LL spent some time developing a good mobile client it could attract new users. It would make SL kind of an elevated IMVU which I think would be appealing for the younger, 'mobile only' set.
Even as consumers it became meh.
Well speaking as a super consumer I have to disagree. With the advent of mesh, bento and now animesh, everything is more beautiful and engaging for me personally. That said, I wish there was less domination of the markets by certain designers. There are a lot of less well known designers out there who do amazing work but you have to slog through a lot of dreck to find them.
