I'm disappointed to read so many people didn't care for it, but if I think harder I remember not being so much in love with the story the first time I played the game, either (may have been Fallout 2, dunno). My spouse is not a Fallout guy and Preston Garvey's melted face freaked him out. (Get used to it, boy). I had to supply some little quickie back story snippets to keep him engaged. I finally won him over by telling him about Dogmeat :)

At some point, if you've played much Fallout at all, you will begin to mix up your memories. There was this one time I was ambushed in a rail car somewhere south of Concord by a small crowd of super mutants. I had a shotgun, they had clubs. Guess they didn't get that memo.

General, a Settlement needs the Minutemen, I'll mark it on your map.

So many nail boards......they never get the memo that I have Le Fusee Terrible/Overseer's Guardian/other high powered weapon.

I'll be wearing a full set or power armor carrying a minigun and a bunch of guys with bats will try to jump me.

I'm 3 episodes in and enjoying it quite a bit. The majority of references come from Fallout4 and one reference to Far Harbor DLC. Eventually someone finally mentioned a dead water chip. But, I can guess that fans of the first 2 'Original' games will be disappointed to a degree.

Also, just saw on Steam that an update to FO4 is coming on the 25th. They're FINALLY adding native ultrawide support. Hopefully now those of us with 21:9 can hop into power armor without a pillar-boxed view.

I'm 3 episodes in now like Immy, and I think I'm getting what's going on.

Except for the head. And how Ghoul-cowboy is still around. I'm sure knowledge of that is still coming.

The head contains some pre-war tech injected for transport in secret. Apparently, Wilzig is Enclave and he wanted to get it into more suitable and perhaps more benevolent hands.

Ghouls don't technically age, so yeah, there's ghoulified pre-war people like Cooper Howard still around...though most ghouls are post-war. Becoming a ghoul is random, just being exposed to rads won't do it, and going feral does NOT happen all the time, just most of the time. Drugs have no effect on that in the games. Best solution to a feral is a combat shotgun round to the head.

Akshully, that's a good solution to a lot of hostile situations in the Wasteland.

... I remember when I didn't understand the difference between a double-barrel shotgun and a military automatic 12 gauge. Fallout taught me that. :D

It also taught me the horrors of being poisoned by radiation, although the game doesn't really replicate the feeling of being eaten up inside by invisible particles. I learned to save up on remedies.

Something just irked me right now. From EP 1 to 5, I was able to get playback in full-frame on my 21:9 screen. But on EP 6, it's coming through letterboxed which my monitor further pillarboxes. So, currently dealing with big black/grey border bars surrounding the picture. (._.)

Edit: EP7 is fine.

Amazon is giving away Fallout 76 (PC - Windows) to anyone with Amazon Prime. Should be available until May 15.

It's nice to get it for free. They sure don't make it easy though. First they will give an access code. Then you have to go to the microsoft store. You need to go to a page to enter the access code. The link they gave didn't work for me. Once you find the page you redeem it. Then you need to use the MS Xbox application to install it which is confusing since I don't own an xbox and want to play it on a pc but that is how it works. The download is huge - 113 Gb. It is currently at 20% downloaded here.

I don't know why the headline says for new prime members. It is for all prime members. I've been a member for over a year.

Also the offer is not just for PC. I think I saw it is also available for xbox x/s/one (but don't quote me on that).

Yeah, and they're not offering the PlayStation version. Cue the “but. CC, you already have that“

Biggest download on my old PS4, even by PS5 standards it is huge. I think the size is only rivaled by FFXIV and BG3 on my PS5.

Yep. 3 GOTY and New Vegas GOTY are also available via Amazon Luna. Cue the : But CC, you have those already for your PS3 and steam.

A non-binary person as member of the Brotherhood of Steel, which simply put is the most fanatic faction hating almost everything in that world. Brillant.

Aside that the sets really look like a labor of love, very accurate.

Just finished the last episode. The series themes are Very Fallout. Let's just say I hate Vault-Tech even more now

And yes the location an antagonist is heading for at the end of the show IS New Vegas. besides the new Vegas sign it shows the NV skyline and you can see a “Lucky 38“ sign.

Also: “the Vaults were never meant to save anyone“
There were a few vaults that were meant to save people but the majority of them were different types of experiments. One only had men in it and another opened prematurely.

It looks like a decent stab at the Fallout universe. I've enjoyed some of the independent attempts over the past few years and this one has Amazon money so it's got to be worth a look.

Just finished the series and liked it. Though, I felt like the BoS was depicted very off. Mind you, I only have FO4 as a reference. In the game, the BoS comes across as a bunch of delusional preppers in a pseudo-military. In the series they look like a bunch of bungling idiots and cowards indoctrinated into a pseudo-religion. It's like one being Buzz Lightyear while the other is Gomer Pyle.

It was my understanding that the BoS wasn't depicted as nearly as fascist as they actually are (as fictional groups go). After that, 3 more playthroughs I made it my job to destroy BoS. It was actually quite fun!

Have not yet watched the series.

From the games I don't get the impression of the BoS as cowards. They are fanatics and crusaders in the holy-war-let's-kill-anybody-in-our-way sense of the word. Which makes them capable of sacrificing anything, including their own lives, for their cause.
