So my favorite men's club to hang out at now has a human-only rule. In 2022 do people really still get weirded out by furries? Maybe I wanted some human av friends. Does anyone else think this is weird or am I just being a big baby?

I totally agree. I'm not furry, but DO NOT get why people hate furries. It seems like the same thought process that would lead to other discrimination. I mostly go to sims that have open rules... and I've never heard of a furry sim banning human avatars...

I can understand the appeal to ultra realistic sims with only human avatars of "normal" proportions but it's weird when fantasy and scifi sims also have insanely restrictive criteria of what is allowed.
The hardest core furries get me wanting to punch walls, so I get it. Open the door to furries and you’re going to get some of the super weirdos.

Trouble is, the furries who just shrug and go somewhere else without a fuss aren’t the furries they’re going to meet, leaving the only contacts being the fuk’n idiots. This leads to a warped idea what an average furry is like.

What can you do?
A sim has an owner and their rules are law.
It can be weird, strange, unethical, childish, mean, grotesque, devilish or stupid, but still whatever floats their boat, their rules are law.
Welcome to SL.

Some clubs kick you out if you don't have a mesh avatar, some kick you out because you stay a fraction to long on their landing point, others because you dance the wrong dance, or talk in local chat.
SL is a weird drama driven place at times.

Safest is to stay on ones platform and play the Barbie and Ken dress up game, which many actualy do.

I mean... yeah, MAYBE furries have a slightly higher portion of crazies, but It's not like you won't run into tones of human douche bags anyway... I always oppose rules that only exist because the banned thing is "associated" with the thing you are actually trying to keep out.

a sl place, a sim is not a democratic event. It is mostly an attempt by the owner or creator to stage a fantasy.
And if this includes, for example, that only adult human-looking avatars are desired on a sim, then that's ok.
I think sim owners invest time and money in creating and maintaining a sim, and often contribute to the attractiveness of sl...so it's ok if they set the rules. Other sims have different rules and you can create your own place according to your own ideas...provided you have the necessary skill, money and time.

You can certainly argue about which bans are not acceptable at all. And things like SEX with minors should of course be prosecuted.
But if someone doesn't want to have dog avatars on their property, or do not want men, yes, and others dont want women avatars either, that's the decision of the sim owner.
There are 1000 other sims that don't have such rules.

There’s a high proportion of neurodivergence too. That ain’t anyone’s fault. It’s also a thing that a significant number of neurotypical people won’t be arsed to deal with in their recreational pursuits.

IMO the internet has chilled CONSIDERABLY on the wide-open furry hate over the last while, but there's still some of it around. Mostly it seems to be out-of-touch people who last heard about furries when it was in to hate on them and aren't aware things have shifted since then.

Furry avatars tend to have more normal proportions than humans. I don't see quite as many seven foot tall duck-billed tyrannosaurs with tiny arms and six inch thigh gaps as I once did, but they're still super-common and nobody seems to care.

never!
"My House - My Rules" has always been the ethos of SL. Even under "Your World - Your Imagination". Glad to see they are taking it back on board - over at the official. Never represented as hoom in all my incarnations and never had a prob. Frankly the plastic natashas and kens make me shudder.

I just don't go to them if they don't want me, or my Lindens there. I've noticed more on OpenSim too that are human only.

I'm not sure I agree... I've seen lots and LOTS of furries with biceps bigger than my head! Curvy women too... And when I talk about "normal" proportions many always think of the women... but I do see a lot of impossibly muscular dudes (furry and non furry).
