Jellyfish.

/me shudders

I've encountered many up close. Lucky for me it was on the beach, and they were dead. Even luckier I never stepped on one since the stingers can still hurt you when the jellyfish is dead.

Here's a little Imgur post:

Now, I'm not posting this for the topic about the post per se (anti-vaxxers), but because after reading the post, one of the comments kinda made me go :cautious:

"Look at that crowd and tell me there is hope to tackle real problems like climate change that will require actual shared sacrifice."
...yeeeah, the US folks are hosed. And by proxy a chunk of the world.

Winter is coming... to Florida! Last Sunday temperature in Florida reached a low of -4°C, which was cold enough that iguanas were falling out of trees.

The animals are probably going to survive this shock, but it might reduce their population at large.

"We're expecting an accumulation of two to four inches of Iguana"

So, real quick - Florida is pretty far south, but...

To grow oranges, you need a freeze. It does get cold here, just not usually enough to snow.

I'm not as worried, as if I were living anywhere else in Florida, we're high enough we do not need flood insurance. But even so, we could end up on an island.....and lose our downtown.
I'm far enough away from the coast that sea rise is not a direct concern, but EVERYONE should be aware of the economic impacts of migration away from the coasts. Tens of thousands, possibly millions, of displaced people will migrate inland in search of housing and jobs. Many will have lost their primary investment, a house, so teetering on the edge of poverty. Severe housing shortages, rising unemployment, tent cities, and simmering social unrest - this will affect all of us (well, you guys, I won't be around in 2050).

Don't forget supply line disruptions... I have no idea how many ports have plans for the rise.
Container ship docks are more than a few feet above water level. Keep in mind the boxes in the photo are 8 ft tall each. They already deal with tides and the height of the ship changing a lot between loaded and unloaded.
