I was too. It's a British whole wheat cereal. An Amazon reviewer says, "These are blocks of compressed tiny wheat flakes. Each block of wheat is roughly 3" x 1-1/2" x 1 inch. Tightly compressed tiny whole wheat flakes mixed barley malt extract, Cane Sugar, salt with a bit of Niacin and Thiamin tossed in. "

I could be wrong, but it looks like a solid lump of granola.
Don't know what granola is, but those weetabix are a solid lump and a good example of the power of marketing.

The real humor is in the replies in that thread. There are quite a number of brands that had to chime in. It's a hilarious read.

I didn’t know Weetabix wasn’t as known in the US. I get that it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I thought it was such a well known/popular brand.

Beans are part of a "full English breakfast". I don't know if it's granola ... from the ingredients I'd suggest it might be closer to the shredded wheat cereal biscuits we have in the U.S.

Granola is a "health food" made from rolled oats, honey, sometimes almonds or raisins, and is kind of a "slightly sweet" dense breakfast cereal. Of course, this being America granola bars usually have fake chocolate chips, artificial colors & flavors, and an erzatze chocolate fudge coating with enough calories to match a standard candy bar. The better ones are "nutrient dense" with espresso or dark chocolate flavors which only make them a better tasting candy bar.

In the states it's called Shredded Wheat.

Hrm, not really granola either, granola is typically made primarily with oats rather than wheat.

I shall call them "some sort of weird foreign cereal bar thing" henceforth.

[ETA] For those curious USAnians, the "Organic" Weetabix are in Sprouts and Whole Foods [/ETA]

Weetabix are very dry but turn into a mush when soaked in milk. Like baby food but with gritty bits of seeds.
Okay, maybe like Grape Nuts* glued together with honey. Ew.

I don't like the gravel-to-goo thing that Grape Nuts does.

*actually contains neither grapes nor nuts

I've never had grape nuts, but Weetabix (when dry) is probably flakier.

ETA: and I've just seen a picture of something called Grape Nut Flakes - so I dunno, maybe something more like that and compressed into a brick?

Well, the reason that I wondered why one would eat beans on it is that I was thinking it was like granola. Granola is very hard and compact so trying to use a spoon to break off a bit of it with beans on top wouldn't be all that easy. It seems that this product is a bit softer so one could put beans on it and they would soften it up?
