I don't think that's what's happening here.

Nobody ever accused Mueller of harassment - yet, at least. What happened is, a lady who described herself as a former associate of Mueller, sent emails to multiple journalists claiming that a GOP backer had tried to get her to fabricate a claim of harassment. As easy as such a scheme might be to believe, the actual problem is that the woman making this claim is a very sketchy source, and there doesn't appear to have ever been a Mueller associate by her name. Her claim seems to be phony.

That's why I wanted everyone to read the thread, of that tweet I posted above. It's only the first post. The guy is a journalist and he describes his interaction with this story. An important part:


ETA: Nobody is really trying to create false sexual harassment stories about Mueller. Somebody (i.e., some GOP dweeb) is trying to plant stories that such a scheme is taking place, hoping that "liberal media" will uncritically believe and print them, so that conservatives can later easily prove the story false and "expose" that the media is willing to forgo diligence for political reasons.

IIRC it was a phony accusation against Moore (the pedo-judge from Alabama), an attempt to discredit all the other, legitimate accusations against him by association. The woman met at a restaurant with a reporter, gave inconsistent details, and repeatedly asked the reporter about what kind of money she might be able to make off her accusation. The reporter started digging and eventually published an article about her and the organization that sent her, rather than the phony story she was trying to push.
