What are some fun tips and tricks about SL that you took too long to learn?

My answer for today:

I've had the login and logout notifications turned off forever... just too much spam. This morning I had the thought that MAYBE it would be very nice to just have notifications for a few favored friends when they come online. ...you know... just the hot people!

I ALMOST posted a question to his board asking how to do this, but figured it out on my own. I made a contact set! I of course have seen that menu in the conversations window for a long time, but never thought to use it. The options for contact sets make this very easy to just have the notifications for the contact set.

I figured I'd share in case anyone else had use for this.

Seems like a dumb one but you can upload a profile picture for free in the official viewer. In Firestorm as far as I know, you still have to pay the 10L to upload it then select it.

Interesting... it sounds like SL has a way to directly upload into the profile picture for free and bypassing the upload as a texture item first. Maybe Firestorm could add this feature but either doesn't know to or it's not an urgent thing for them.
