Israel won the Eurovision popular vote in 2025 in countries where polls show it is deeply unpopular — and a New York Times analysis of voting data found that only a few hundred people voting repeatedly could have tipped those results, the paper reported Monday in a major investigation.

ESC being rigged is nothing new, this is normal. Eastern European countries are normally sticking together voting for each other, also in the South. We are used to that.

Also when in 2022 Ukraine won the contest this was also a political signal, not because the song was the best of that year.

So Israel being a member of that club as well is only mildly surprising at best. Of course the record labels are trying to rig it, because they always do. And all other involved parties as well.

I mean it's the same with the Academy Awards: big bribing budgets often win.

"The 25th Knesset shall be dissolved before the end of its term. Elections (to form the next parliament) will be held on a date determined by the Knesset Committee, which may not be set earlier than 90 days after the passage of this law," said the draft legislation released by Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party.

According to Israeli media reports, the dissolution bill could be put to a vote on May 20. Parliamentary elections had originally been scheduled to take place by October 27. The move to dissolve parliament, initiated by Netanyahu's own party, comes as the prime minister had appeared over the past 24 hours to face the possible collapse of his coalition amid mounting anger from ultra-Orthodox parties.

They accuse him of failing to deliver on his promise to pass a legislation that would permanently exempt young men from the ultra-Orthodox community studying in yeshivas, or religious seminaries, from compulsory military service.

An analysis by the Newscord media monitoring group last month confirmed earlier research: that the British media studiously avoid naming ethnic cleansing and genocide when it is Israel – rather than Russia – carrying them out.

Comparing the coverage of the most “serious” establishment British news outlets – the BBC, the Guardian and Sky – with that of Al Jazeera, the study found that UK media consistently choose to obscure Israel’s responsibility for its crimes.

Israel was identified as conducting attacks in Gaza in only around half of British news reports, in contrast to nearly 90 per cent of Al Jazeera’s. As Newscord noted: “Half the time, BBC readers aren’t told who killed the person in the story.”

That was graphically illustrated in a notorious BBC headline: “Hind Rajab, 6, found dead in Gaza days after phone calls for help”.

In fact, an Israeli tank had sprayed a stationary car with gunfire even though the Israeli military had known for hours that it contained a Palestinian girl – the sole survivor of an earlier attack – who emergency crews were desperately trying to reach. Israel killed the rescue team, too.

It won't make any difference. The overwhelming majority of the Knesset are genocidal fascists hell-bent on erasing the Palestinian people, humiliating them in the most brutal and disgusting ways imaginable (that whole having dogs rape Palestinian abductees thing? Yeah, that), and then using their international lobby to criminalise even mention of the word "Palestine". They've succeeded in the UK, the USA, Australia, and Germany.
