I haven't spent money in SL in years. They sure make it difficult. I just want to buy some Lindens. I change the amount from the default $10. When I hit submit it says confirm $11.11. No, that's the wrong amount. I want to update my credit card information. I hit submit. It goes to a white screen. Of course there is no telephone support. Well fuck them I guess. If they are going to make it so difficult to accept my money they won't get it.

I use Paypal and that works fine. I don't even have a credit card.
Paypal is a bank ( at least in Europe it is) so I linked Paypal directly to my bank account at my 'regular' bank.

I have had a specified amount come up as more and as less when it goes to the cashier, all because in the time it took me to enter in my desired purchase amount, the exchange rate changed.

I have yet to encounter a "white screen" when adding/updating payment information ... I have had it place the progress bar/information pane in a wonky position however.

Outside of Billing related issues, no you won't get telephone based support. For billing issues however ...

And as Sid mentioned above, you can also use PayPal.

Paypal is great for workarounds. Some things do not use my preferred credit card but have a payment source of paypal ..... so guess what I linked that to?

I called them. They told me to file a ticket. I did. It's really making me mad.
That's rather odd as changing/adding/updating Payment Information is a Billing issue.

Mind, there is also this and while it isn't quite time for that to have begun as of yet .... You could be seeing part of the reason why said Maintenance is scheduled.

(shameless plug alert!)
Visit the Hair Fair for new hairstyling for free, while waiting for that ticket to resolve? ;-)
Most booths offer gifts. Mine for sure.

On a side note: Yeah agreed on Linden Lab making it too hard to spend money in SL. Should have never removed the 3rd party exchange option...
Most exchanges did a great job at making it easy to exchange. I used one myself. Usually, if people are given the opportunity, they will find a better way of doing things than large companies.

The exchanges were great but I don't think the Lab had much choice. Changes in US banking laws and regulations forced the Lab into doing away with the 3rd party markets.
