Checked out my 'recent' tab and spotted there was something new in the Library - a folder called 'Avatar Welcome Pack'.

As well 'lite' versions of both male and female legacy bodies (the 'modern' ones, not the 'classic'), there's a little collection of hair, AOs and clothing in there for both, including items by Gabriel, Stealthic, Addams , Doux, Wings and Cold Ash (amongst others).

Turns out I was already a few days late to the party and there was already a thread in the official forums discussing the find - in a nutshell it was there, then it wasn't, and now it's back, but the consensus is that it's still a work in progress of sorts before LL make an official announcement.

There are no HUDS for the bodies and heads - they are purely BOM - but it seems to hint at LL realising that Senra hasn't really worked out. Like a few people, I don't know how I feel about the 'bias' towards the specific creators, although I get why Legacy might have been chosen - they make both a male and female body that isn't geared towards the more extreme of body shapes.

Despite really liking the look of the bodies, my concern with them - apart from the poor optimisation - has also been the even poorer LOD. But I've tried the male one at least and the LOD seemed much better. Maybe LL 'had words'? But having said that, some of the hair is not too great... I have got my LOD set to "1" though!

Anyway, a post from a LL bod suggested they are reaching out to more creators as well, so there's possibly more to come.

BOM kind of felt like an answer to the whole "cuts and HUDs" problem anyway, so not having one probably is not a huge problem.

What they need, and maybe it's there, is a way to attach an alpha BOM to the clothing mesh, so it just, auto applies.

So I tried out the Legacy female body, and it seems it contains some kind of deformer* that drags the chin down and way out like and point, and 'locks' the chin depth and chin angle sliders rendering them useless.

...which frankly for me means the body is of no use, even for free.

*I'm sure I've read somewhere before that skipping on not setting or ignoring some bones in the rig correctly can have negative effects in other areas like this (or something along those lines). So it might not so much be an added deformer but an error in the rigging, but either way it's not good.

That's kind of interesting that the body affects the face.

I may have to see how it compares just straight swapping with my Legacy body.

I had that. In the avatar menu, I think, it was a one click fix, something about the skeleton.

Yeah - there's 'undeform avatar', 'reset skeleton', and 'reset skeleton and animations'. I've tried all three plus relogging after as well - the head still has a 'witch's chin' and the chin depth and chin angle sliders still remain non-functional.

All heads seem to be affected, not just the ones in the welcome pack, including heads by other creators (and affects of course the default SL head).

Removing the Legacy (f) body 'fixes' it and the head returns to to the shapes I made and the sliders become functional again.

It's definitely the Legacy body causing the head to bork.

Can you apply BOM with a script or is scripting the red-headed stepchild again?

It must vary with each person's habits. I've only had to do it twice, and each instance was following my changing to a UTLITIZER body and head before switching back to Legacy body with a LeLutka head.

II am not sure since BOM. Is basically just a sort of "Alpha Tatoo".

I do believe you can apply auto hiding on body cuts through scripts though, because I have some clothes that do that.

I know it's using cuts because the hidden bits show up in the body hud. BOM does not do that.

I did some testing with the items here a bit. Nothing super surprising honestly but some general bullet points.

For reference, my normal use body these days is the Legacy Pregnancy Edition.

I'll just call it the Legacy Basic Body or some variation to indicate the free body.

* The basic body works with other Legacy clothing. As expected.
* The basic body doesn't work with a LEGACY HUD. The HUD just closes and says "wear a compatible body".
* The handful of free clothing work fine on a proper full Legacy Body.
* The handful of free clothing do not have any indication that they are for a Legacy body. IE, when you buy something they are usually labeled "Maitreya, Legacy, etc"
* The basic body works with the Legacy version of the Sensations Vagina
* The basic body works with a Legacy compatible INM Cum layers.
* The Basic body wears a "pregnant shape" pretty well.

Basically, if you don't need to use cuts and a HUD, the body seems to work like any other regular mesh body.

CHIN FIX UPDATE: I noticed the Library folder had been updated, and it looks like the chin issue with the female Legacy body has been fixed!
