Is LibreOffice worth considering as an alternative to Microsoft Office?

As of several years ago, it choked on large spreadsheets. It was stuff I didn't really need (Billboard chart data, if I recall) so no big deal. I've used it for lightweight spreadsheets and text documents for years and years. It worked for exchanging spreadsheets with 365 users, but they were simple sheets that I created.

The most advanced formula I use is adding up the numbers in either a column or a row.
It'll definitely do that, and you probably won't even have to rewrite it.

The most complicated thing I have done lately in Microsoft Excel is a few years ago I built a budget spreadsheet for myself. Basically the workbook knows my monthly income and all of my recurring fixed bills, so all I have to do each month is input a couple of monthly-variable bills like the electric, and it gives me my whole budget for the month and even my itemized shared-split for back when I had a roommate. So, mostly adding and dividing, and I had to learn how to reference the contents of a cell in one sheet in a different cell on another sheet, but that's not like specialist stuff.

At the beginning of last year when I gave up my 365 sub, I converted this into a LibreOffice Calc ODF. If I remember right I don't think I had to fix ANY of the working stuff, I only had to fiddle with like column widths and my cell background and text colors and unimportant things like that. Admittedly I use it for very little, but for that little I use it for I'm totally satisfied with LibreOffice. I don't miss 365 at all.

FWIW, I'm from the ribbon generation I guess, so that's how my menus are set because that's what I like - but I do like that different menu layouts are there for people who preferred things old-school. It's such a cool thing for the devs that they give you that option.
