Thatd be placing a block and rather petty.
Blocks are good -that's what the ignore feature is intended to be, after all.

From the blocker's side someone can't harass you by quoting you since they couldn't see your post.

From the blockee's side, you wouldn't have to worry about whether or not you're inadvertently harassing someone (which is a situation I think I wound up in today -and that is why it's on my mind). If you can't see them, you can't quote them -or be accussed of badgering them.

I think it would put a definite end to an argument; if one side wants to call it quits, it's quits with no ambiguity.

I'm not even sure that the board software can be modified to do a block of that sort, so I'm not putting a lot of weight on it. I simply think it would be a good thing if it could.

The intended function of Ignore is in the name - Ignore.

What the ignored party says from that point forward should be none of your concern - you chose to put them on Ignore.

I've a small number of people here and over on the Second Life forum on Ignore and frankly what they say about me or how they respond to any posts I make simply doesn't matter. They are being Ignored for a reason.

Over on that other forum I make use of the varied levels that Ignore function offers, more often simply ignoring their posts unless they decide to try and get around it with a private message.

It really boils down to this: Once you've placed someone on Ignore, you've washed your hands of further interaction with them until such time as you feel like removing that Ignore and what they do from there isn't your problem anymore (with very few exceptions).

Now if the system here were granular and your idea were optional... It'd be fine, you'd use it as you see fit as would I. Right now it isn't granular, which is a problem.
