I'm in AZ, driving to the airport in 4 hours. It's almost midnight and neighbors all around are still lighting around of firecrackers and M80's... Ugh
I get to brag a little, this year I didn't hear a thing until tonight, and then just a handful of them. No idea why, there's no burn ban or anything like last year. I figure it's just been too damn hot, nobody wants to go outside.

M80's? You're lucky. I think one of my neighbors was lighting off whole sticks of dynamite!

Yep, as is typical of this area every 4th of July and every New Year, it looked and sounded like a freaking war zone out there. Most of what they've lit off are illegal, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone.

My neighborhood is richly supplied with festive ordnance by the nearby reservation. They run a massive open-air fireworks market (Boom Town ... of course.)

Based on last night, they'll apparently sell you anything from sparklers to small tactical nukes.

Happily, my kitties were mildly annoyed for a bit, then decided it was all meaningless and sacked out.

Home safe. Less than an hour of sleep last night.

But I managed to -double- it with 10 completely separate naps on the trip home.

On my connecting flight, I dozed off as soon as I had my seat belt on. Woke, told the person next to me "poke me if I start snoring" nodded off again. Woke a third time... "Wait... we're STILL on the ground?!" and ended up chatting with them for the entire flight. Lol =)

[edit:] Nearly a day later and I -still- feel jetlagged. =I DIDN'T EVEN CHANGE TIMEZONES=. /Argh

(No time change when travelling between CA and AZ during the summer, because CA does daylight savings time, and AZ doesn't.)
