If no one wants to discuss the implications and what it means for those who are not illegal but can be easily "mistaken" for illegal, that's fine by me. I'd be happier than a pig in a stye if nothing ever comes of it but just in case it blows up, there's a thread for it.

They're just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks, and most of it is recycled. The key is not to defeat Republicans but to credibly defeat their tactics and arguments. That's the hard part because logic doesn't affect people who "want to believe". It's "magical thinking".

I get what you are saying - especially when even smart, fairly questioning people are convinced the coup failed and its a non-issue [like my mom], who is convinced that since her rich republican bridge buddies don't support Trump that no one with real money does, so ergo, its not a threat.

Part of me almost wqants it to happen just so I can go 'See mom, maybe listen to me sometimes' [she does, but not on money/wealth/politics - just one people things?] but mostly I want to either prevent it or just be wrong.
