the european soccer championships are currently taking place in europe.
On Wednesday, the match between Hungary and Germany will take place in Munich. Football is by far the most popular (spectator) sport in Europe and here in Germany The Munich council and Mayor have decided to illuminate the stadium in Munich in the rainbow colors as a signal to Hungary for more tolerance.
The Hungarian government has long been in trouble within the EU because of its attitude and decisions, which the most other countries often do not see in accordance with a free democratic order.
So last week the Hungarian government passed a law targeting homosexuals, especially young homosexuals.
Therefore Munich had the idea, the stadium should be lit up in the rainbow colors during the football match Hungary vs Germany as a sign of tolerance.
UEFA (European Football Association), which organizes the games (and probably makes a lot of money from them), has banned the illumination. Most of the other important Football clubs in Germany will also have their stadiums illuminated in rainbow colors during the game on Wednesday. or at least they declared they support the action
The captain of the German team will wear an armband in rainbow colors during the match.
I am curious if spectators will be able to wave the rainbow flag in the stadium.
