Epic Games has announced a new, browser-based software tool powered by its Unreal Engine called the MetaHuman Creator that can craft highly realistic human faces and help power more realistic body movements and facial animations. Epic provided a sneak peek at the platform today in a pair of YouTube videos showing off examples of creations built using the MetaHuman Creator, and “metahuman” appears to be the term the company is using to describe this brand of virtual, non-real individual.

Curious to see if it handles not-quite-human features/hair as well! :)

It's impressive stuff. I would say it's not quite to the level of some truly astounding hand-crafted digital art I have seen; but it's more than enough for a modern video game character, AND it's got a damn good rig. It certainly beats the heck out of that Daz stuff that I see everyone using.

The sequel will probably be better.

Looks neat. The hair is always the problem. Someone needs to seriously work on natural hair physics

This guy is pretty much devoting his whole career to hair:

But does it have little subtle movements on a CGI character? Where a few strands jiggle or fall? That's the sort of thing I mean. It's also part of why Deep Fakes often end up coming off as super fake.
