Discord Nitro

This is a curiosity for me. Discord has started popping Nitro sales windows into my feeds so frequently that it has become annoying. Are they desperate for the moniez or are they falling down the hole of pushing away people that don't maintain paid accounts? Here be a poll; make an answer please:

I think that discord has enormous costs in terms of bandwidth and media storage. I’ve had nitro for a long time, and since I am a hevy Discord user that shares a lot of large images and other things, it is worth it to me. Your mileage may vary.

Also, I would consider it if it had a cost like half or a third of what they are charging.

Yeah some tiers or a la carte features would be nice but would also cost the company more to properly support. The projected income must not demonstrate enough profit over the increased cost. Assuming they’ve done the math, of course, we are.

Damn right!. I've said for years that Discord is IRC for young people who don't know what IRC is.

It is interesting that the general preference is to revert away from library style forums to the streaming consciousness of gloried BBS messaging systems. But it does seem to be how people want to review news items and communicate with others. I get as lost in Facebook, Instagram, IRC, Mastodon, Twitter, and even Messenger as I did logging onto boards every week, other day, okay twice every day back in the day.
