Amazon has added an impressive new feature to its Echo devices, called Alexa Guard. You can configure Alexa to listen for several different types of sounds when you are not home - glass breaking, smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are currently the sounds it listens for. You can also configure it to control smart lighting to make it appear that someone is home. If it detects these sounds, it will send an alert to your phone with a 10 second clip of the sound that it detected. It also integrates with ADT alarm systems to be able to notify alarm company monitoring as well. While it does not take the place of an alarm system or professional home monitoring, it's a nice added feature.
