I really hope this is good. One of the rumors that circulated around the American Gods fandom, while the show was in production, was that American Gods imploded when Gaiman got Sandman greenlit. He just didn't care about American Gods any more, once he started working on Sandman so it all fell apart, kinda like how D&D killed Game of Thrones when they were given Star Wars. I think a LOT of things went into the dumpster fire that was the last two seasons of American Gods, but that's just one thing people say went wrong, behind the scenes.

I watched the first episode tonight. (Then I took an unexpected nap - not the show's fault, it's been a long week.) It was...good. I'm waiting for things to kick in; going to watch more tomorrow. This Tom Sturridge guy is definitely Dream incarnate.

I have watched up to The Sound of Her Wings, which also includes the Hob Gadling story.

The episode in the diner was amazing. Gaiman has said that issue of Sandman is the darkest thing he has ever written, and it was a challenge to adapt it and keep people watching the series afterwards. It was a very powerful and disturbing episode, but it was damn good.

This is an amazing cast, so far everything has been well adapted with changes that make narrative sense for a television series. Everyone who complained about the casting, especially Death, can go fuck themselves with a rusty chainsaw.

Still have to watch the episodes that adapt The Doll's House, and now they just dropped Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope.

Netflix releases bonus episode of The Sandman

I loved A Dream Of A Thousand Cats. It's animated, which was unexpected. It gave me a bit of a Watership Down vibe, but not so forlorn. And a couple good laughs, too. Calliope was good. Both are more along the lines of "Dream makes a cameo" sort of stories.

Haven't caught the additional episode, but imdb says Kristen Schaal is cast as Delirium... I love her in "What We Do in the Shadows", and I'm sure she'll knock it out of the park.

I sorta envisioned Jamie Campbell Bower in the role, he could totally pull off the giggly/ethereal/haunted glassy-eyed and detached demeanor I would expect from Delerium.

Kristen voiced Delirium in Audible's The Sandman: Act II. If we get a season 2 and Delirium shows up, it would be amazing if she got to play the part again.

I never read the books and I should say that I'm very easily pleased by films. That said, I loved season one. I can't get enough Dream. Please let there be a season two!
