In Berlin today 3 supposed members of Hamas were arrested during a weapons deal. Law authorities are convinced that they had planned terror attacks on Jewish sites in Germany.

We're seen footage of children shot by snipers, heard the phone recording of the murdered aid workers buried in the mass grave with them, now this.

If you read the whole article, who you think the terrorists are in this situation?

In November 2023 Israeli forces operating in the area decided that section of Moneer al-Rayyes Street was off-limits to civilians, without notifying Palestinians. Raab described it as a “combat zone” where any man of military age was “marked for death”.

Oh good grief...

Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister, Amichai Chikli, has said Israel will be hosting a visit by the Far Right activist known as Tommy Robinson in October.

In a message on X, Chikli said: “In the wake of the horrific Manchester terrorist attack, Israel and the Jewish people stand firmly with our allies in the United Kingdom.

On behalf of the State of Israel, I am proud to host British patriot @TRobinsonNewEra who will visit Israel in mid-October. Tommy is a courageous leader on the front line against radical Islam,” he added.

Hamas published this message today:

Trump then asked Israel to stop all attacks on Gaza.

Let's hope that Hamas really will deliver, and not bite Trump's Hand...

Again, that's way too coherent.

Trump hasn't been seen in public since Tuesday.

He's probably in his bacta tank again, or Goa'uld sarcophagus.

I suppose Vance took his phone.

Netenyahu, and his predecessors, have always sought to eradicate the Palestinians, by terror, genocide, occupation, and the murder of innocents, while encouraging the taking of their homes, land, resources, and lives.

Netenyahu had very sucessfully convinced a lot of the world their illegal occupation of Palestinian land was a valid response to "terrorism" until footage and eye witness reports, including the Tantura documentary and aid-worker murders, showed this long-running campaign to be a brutal genocide and land grab. This is why he seeks to rule over TikTik.* Reportedly they're paying thousands of USD for sucessful posts.

His lethal campaign has jepordized the safety of Jews outside Israel by insisting Jewishness and Zionism are one and the same thing. While also ramping up hatred of Muslims. This unscrupulous butcher puts more lives outside the region at risk every day.

Amid the horror of reports babies were beheaded (repeated by Biden) and put in ovens, etc, etc, a propaganda onslaught released in reponse to the Hamas offensive in 2023, few stopped to consider these operatives were responding to the lengthy and brutal illegal Israeli occupation of their lands and murder of their people. Meanwhile, the starvation and expulsion of Palestinians continues and the world watches it happen.

Is Israeli propaganda believed because their emenies are Muslims, not white, and have been dehumanised, "othered," by campaigns spanning decades?

The US & UK are under threat from similar propaganda campaigns, not only concerning Palestine.

Monsters!

In a severe escalation, an Israeli Knesset committee advanced a bill on Sunday that would impose the death penalty specifically on Palestinian detainees. The timing of this push is questionable and could prove to be critically significant, coming as international mediators appear to be nearing a potential ceasefire and hostage deal that could end the devastating Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Critics argue that the far-right coalition government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is fast-tracking this draconian legislation with a clear and alarming objective: to authorize the mass judicial execution of Palestinians before a deal is secured, thereby accelerating a campaign of killing that has already claimed tens of thousands of lives (if not hundreds of thousands). This legislative rush is seen as a last-ditch effort to inflict maximum casualties and cement a legacy of destruction, undermining both peace efforts and the principles of justice.
Israeli Government Fast-Tracks Death Penalty Bill for Palestinians as Ceasefire Talks Intensify

“Under Ben-Gvir’s direction, the National Security Committee held an illegal vote, contrary to the position of the Knesset legal adviser and in explicit disregard of the request of the security establishment, the hostages directorate, and the prime minister himself,” Kariv said in a statement after the meeting.
“This was an illegal vote and a cynical, disgraceful maneuver that places political needs above the lives of the hostages,” he said. “Once again, it turns out that in the coalition and the government – the extremists – are the ones setting the agenda.”

This is what worries me about the progressive left's refusal to look beyond the -- perfectly accurate -- point that Netanyahu and his ethno-religious fascist government have weaponized accusations of antisemitism to shut down criticism of Israel and acknowledge that, nevertheless, justified anger over what Israel is doing to Palestinians in Gaza is helping fuel antisemitic attacks on Jews in Britain and elsewhere.

After Manchester, progressives should know this: Jewish people feel very alone. We need you to stand with us

When Jews are attacked by the far right, solidarity and sympathy flows easily from the anti-racist ecosystem that exists to protest and campaign against prejudice and hatred. But when Jews are murdered by jihadists? Not so much.

There are plenty of reasons for this, but they all amount to the reality that large swathes of the anti-racist movement that stood alongside Jews when they faced neo-Nazis in the 1960s abandoned Britain’s Jewish community a generation ago. The instinctive support that progressives show for other minorities, the sense that they are naturally on their side, has evaporated when it comes to Jews. This has to change. Support from this sector may not be able to stop the deadly threat of anti-Jewish terror. But it would certainly help British Jews feel less alone when it happens.
I suspect that part of this is that people rightly feel both angry and powerless at watching horrific scenes from Gaza night after night, unable to do anything about a situation in which the only person who can possibly help restrain Netanyahu is, God help us, Donald Trump.

Attending demonstrations won't actually achieve anything -- neither Netanyahu nor Trump know or care how many thousand people turn out to a demonstration about Gaza in central London -- but at least makes people feel better, at least temporarily, because they're actually doing something, so they're prepared to ignore the fact they're doing it alongside some pretty unsavoury ethno-religious Muslim fascists. It's a bit like St Jeremy Corbyn, who is resolutely opposed to fascism and racism of all kinds, but who is nevertheless always ready to appear on Iranian state television and never met a dictator he doesn't like so long as they oppose Israel and the US.

Put it like this, I am thoroughly opposed to rape and child sexual abuse, but I wouldn't turn out for a protest against rapists and sexual abusers of children that also featured prominent figures from Reform and whatever Tommy Robinson is calling his outfit nowadays who wanted to use the demonstration to attack Muslims in general and asylum seekers in particular.

UK Jewish groups condemn Israeli minister’s invite to Tommy Robinson

Plans by an Israeli minister to host the British far-right activist Tommy Robinson have been condemned by Jewish bodies in the UK and others.

The Board of Deputies of British Jews and the Jewish Leadership Council described Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, as “a thug” who represented the “very worst of Britain”.

Both organisations spoke out after the Israeli diaspora minister, Amichai Chikli, said on Friday that Robinson would visit Israel this month after the terror attack on a Manchester synagogue. In a post on X, Chikli described Robinson as “a courageous leader on the front line against radical Islam”.

I agree with the point you are making here, but have to pick on the use of the word "Zionism." That word has been very twisted from it's original meaning.

I think what you mean to say is that Jewishness should not be conflated with violent ultra nationalism. Jewishness, and even support of Israel don't have to mean and should not mean mindless support for literally anything that government does. No government or military should ever be seen as beyond criticism.

Thanks for the correction. That is pretty much what I meant. I would add, though, that attacks on Jews as they worship at a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur is an attack on them as Jews. Israel, Palestine and Zionism don't come into it.

“Once proudly Zionist, now politically adrift. If only they showed the same energy attacking Britain’s recognition of a Palestinian terror state as they do attacking me and Tommy Robinson.”
Several prominent pro-Israel voices, including columnists Melanie Philips and Nicole Lampert and former deputy Khaled Hassan have since called on Chikli to delete the post.

Interesting account.

I would often see an Israeli tank just outside my office in Ramallah including, at times, when we were supposed to be in negotiations. At one point, the Israeli army took over my apartment, also in Ramallah, at gunpoint in the middle of the night, sending me outside into a gun battle. I could not return for three days.

In the latest plan, there are absolutely no guarantees that aid will be allowed into Gaza, that control will be ceded by Israel, that Israel will pull back or that Gaza will be rebuilt. Instead, if Palestinians give up their claims for accountability for Israel’s war crimes, we may get a vague “pathway to self-determination and statehood”. Not a state – a “pathway”. How generous.
I find myself thinking back on my experience over the years, wondering what would have happened had there been a genuine, robust attempt to end Israel’s military rule. What if, instead of looking the other way, the international community had imposed sanctions on Israel? What if instead of just endlessly repeating that they believe in the “two-state solution”, states had actually taken tangible action to bring it about?
And so, two years into Israel’s genocide, we are witnessing a willful repetition of the mistakes of the past. This time, some more countries have recognized a “state” with great fanfare but still do nothing to ensure a free and prosperous Palestine. They cannot even ensure the basic protection of Palestinian life.

Also earlier this week Greta Thunberg sailed again in a flotilla towards Gaza. The flotilla was intercepted 5 days ago by Israel's navy about 70 nautical miles away from the coast international waters.

Israel frames it as violating a lawful naval blockade; the Pro Palestine activists as illegal.

437 people were detained from the boats. Later Thunberg complained that she was detained in a cell infested with bed bugs, and the personal made her holding flags of unknown identity. Furthermore about lack of water and food. The Swedish ambassador was able to meet her in person.

About 10 hours ago Thunberg arrived in Greece. She traveled there by aircraft.

Well until next time then I guess...

Financial Times -- Israel seems more important — and less desirable — than ever for British Jews

Last week’s terror attack in Manchester — the first successful one since 1994 — may well be the least surprising terror attack to happen in mainland Britain since the end of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Of course, like around two-thirds of British Jews, I am a Zionist. What about the history of Jews in Europe would make me not see the case for a Jewish lifeboat outside of it?

The lessons of the present, however, have proved less straightforward for many British Jews, including me. The two years since the October 7 Hamas attack, the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, have been a period of constant cognitive dissonance. Everything that has happened outside the Middle East has bolstered my belief in the importance of the Israeli insurance policy; everything that has happened within the Middle East has made the idea of calling upon Israel less attractive.
