Mrs. Beebo and I have been enjoying the CBS comedy series Ghosts for the past two seasons, and I knew vaguely it was based on a BBC series of that name. Finally, about two months ago, I happened to trip across it on HBOMax.

I'm a fan now. Mrs. Beebo never warmed up to it, but I think it's hysterical and I'm eagerly awaiting the 5th (and final) series. HBO only offers Series 1-3, so I've had to finagle my way into Series 4 using a streaming app called DailyMotion.

Any other Ghosts fans out there?

I like both versions of Ghosts. Rather like BBC Ghosts and have seen 1-3 of the series, but can't get myself to spend the money to get a VPN to get access to CBC to watch season 4 (or series 4). Well, I could, I guess, it's more playing with VPN to fake my location I don't really want to do. How to Watch Ghosts Season 4 in USA on CBC

We love it. Could not get into the American version.
I've rather liked the New Zealand actress, Rose McIver, when I saw her in iZombie - the one who plays Samantha on Ghosts, so that's a plus for me, I guess. Have not seen her in anything else, though she's been in a ton of stuff.

I did notice a distinct difference between the two versions, and I vaguely recall liking the BBC version more than the USA version, but it's been something like 2 years since I watched BBC version. Well, no, that's not right - I watched "He Came", the Christmas special relativity recently. Within the last year.

If you started watching BBC Ghosts only recently, then you probably already knew about the Christmas special - I'd seen the series I had access to, then a long time later I saw "new episode" next to BBC Ghosts . . . somewhere (Justwatch.com?), and excitedly watched it. Roughly 5 to 6 months passed between last episode of series 3 & Christmas special.

It's ruined the American version for me, it just feels so flat in comparison. Plus, no Robin, so what's even the point?
Clip for next episode of USA Ghosts shows a Robin like character, though they changed the characters on the USA version, so not sure if that's actually Robin or not.

...
Not sure what it is about translating UK shows to USA. It just seems to almost never work. With a few exceptions like (examples are shows that lasted a while, not based on quality): Three's Company (based on UK's Man About the House), House of Cards (based on UK show of same name), Dear John (based on UK show of same name), Being Human (bassed on UK show of same name), The Office (based on UK show of same name), Cosby (based on UK's One Foot in the Grave), shameless (based on UK show of same name), Sanford and Son (based on UK's Steptoe and Son), VEEP (based on UK's The Thick of It), All in the Family (based on UK's Til Death Us Do Part), Whose Line is it Anyway? (only non-scripted serie I'm including in this list).

Unsuccessful? A ton of shows. Including three attempts to remake Fawlty Towers as a USA show (one version had Betty White and Harvey Korman (only pilot); another had Bea Arthur; and third had John Larroquette).

Other than game shows/reality shows, USA shows remade for UK market also tend to fail. Briefly looking at a list of USA shows translated/remade for UK market, and I only see two successful scripted shows: Law & Order: UK; and The Upper Hand (based on Who's the Boss).

There's an app called DailyMotion (free) that provides a link to Series 4. Took about 5 mins to download to my laptop and open an account. Click the links (helpfully provided by the GhostsBBC reddit users) and Bob's your uncle!
