Larian making Baldur's Gate 3

If you go to Larian.com right now you'll see a big-ass III and nothing else in the middle of the website.

Well, you might say, since these are the Divinity people then clearly that means Original Sin 3. Neat!

That would be reasonable. But this is the internet, and some people are unreasonable and dig deeply into things.


I followed the steps and sure enough. All that code is there in the video. Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur's Gate 3 Confirmed From The Makers Of Divinity: Original Sin 2

After teasing it last week, the makers of Divinity: Original Sin 2 today confirmed the biggest pre-E3 bombshell yet: Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming.

Sounds pretty good to me. Though content warning on the trailer for body horror stuff featuring Illithids.

I do like that they realize that it's not fun to "miss" attacks in a crpg even though it happens all the time in tabletop. Shows they are thinking about actually adapting the 5th ed ruleset instead of just doing a straight port job.

I've been dabbling but nothing serious yet. Kinda stuck between Diablo IV and Starfield.

Me, on PS5, I pre-ordered so I have early access to Chapter 1.

The only thing I know about D&D is that it's played with funny looking dice.

The only thing you need to know is if you enter a 10x10 room with an orc guarding a chest, roll for initiative. ;-)

The game tootips are pretty good, so you should be able to get the gist of the game's version of D&D mechanics easily enough. Wizards of the Coast has the fundamental D&D rules freely available online.

Looks quite nice, and its also refreshing to see a game where women don't have that ubiquitious magic ubersexy skimpy female armor.

I was curious if BG3 would run on my potato PC running Fedora Linux, an i7 4790 with 32GB RAM, a GTX1650, an SSD for boot/OS and the game on an HDD, so I double dipped. And yes...it does, better than I thought it would. I'm using Proton Experimental and Vulkan. I had to let the game compile shaders for it to run, it wouldn't if I skipped. The game DOES have a "slow HDD" option and does NOT absolutely require an SSD. Having one will be optimal because it did load slower and was a little bit stuttery compared to my PS5. Cross-saves worked just fine, these shots are from a save I started and played on the PS5. I just used my PS5's DualSense since I'm used to it and the game supports it natively. Turn off Steam's own input in the Steam properties for BG3 for best results, then you'll get the Proper PlayStation button icons.
