I have played Diablo IV on and off since it was released, and it has never clicked for me. It has always left me cold. I would play a bit but never got a character above level 20. This past week. Geforce Now added the Battle.net version of Diablo IV to their streaming games library, allowing me to play it on my ipad in bed or easily jump in and out of it on my PC. Even though I have it installed locally, I love Geforce now for the flexibility it gives me. I play Diablo IV with a controller, and it works perfectly through Geforce Now.

Over the weekend, I have probably played about 30+ hours of Diablo IV, and my seasonal character is level 35. I am having a blast playing it. I am following one of the recommended builds from Icy Veins and it matches my playstyle perfectly. I love pet classes, and corpse explosion is probably my favorite ability in any game. I have already completed a couple of the chapters of the season and I am kind of mid way through the battle pass (which for some reason was free for me to unlock the premium tier). The necromancer class is really a lot of fun, and now I want to switch and make some other seasonal chars too.

I have never been a huge Diablo fan even though I love ARPGs. For some reason all of the sudden, I am enthralled with it. It may pass, but for now, I am finally having a lot of fun with Diablo IV.

Here is the build I am using:

It has guides for all the classes - it is pretty necessary given all the skills available now. I will try another class soon, but for now, I am loving making everything explode constantly. Second Life needs to implement some type of corpse explode ability.

I need to get back to playing it. I have it on PS5. I'll have to try that build out. Don't think I've tried Necromancer yet.

I'm on about my 4th seasonal Necro (in 3 seasons) - Bone, Blood, Blight and back to Bone. Can't really say which I love most but Blood may be the most fun.

I think I've only checked my builds against Icy or Maxroll once I got to 60 or 70+, and then only to improve some symbiosis or other. Funny enough, I discovered that my builds weren't as whacked-out as I thought :)

I've come to the conclusion that D4 has the elements to become the best Diablo yet - but the missing ingredient is some esoteric, vague "feel" a lot of players say is missing. Comparing it to LE, I can't specify what makes one more fun than another. It just is.

For some reason LE is not grabbing me, I find it kind of dull so far.

As I understand it, you get a stack of platinum with the purchase of the game. Was enough for a battle pass for one season, not quite enough for the next, I did end up buying a few more (I think) enough for season 2 and 3's pass.

I got frustrated with challenge events (kill mobs in this circle kinda stuff) with minions who were too dumb to go where I wanted or focus on the target I wanted them to, so I just phased them out.

I did have some fun with D4. Season 1 I went mostly with Petless Necro: Decompose/Sever/Corpse Tendrils/Corpse Explosion & Bone Storm no-minions. Lots of scythes, pulling foes together and blowing them up. Good at ranged, fair at melee range, moderate survival.

Season 2 I did a turbo-spark sorc (my own spin on the very popular 'Ball Lightning' builds), ludicrous Basic Skill Cast Speed which proc'd all the other lightning skills. Also ran with a Human Storm Druid (tornadoes) which was fun.

This season I've been going with a lightning based Storm Druid, and I kinda hate it. "Lightning Storm" is a channeled skill that hits more targets the longer you channel, so you end up being a 'glass turret', and it's just not tough enough to take the hits to keep channeling.

I haven't really gone back since I started LE though. If I do, I'll probably switch my new seasonal Storm Druid into a tornado slinger instead at this point.

That build works really well. I'm currently level 7 so I have another level before I can get Corpse Explosion, but Blood Surge works very well too even though I have to be in the middle of enemies to use it well.

It has you redirect all the points into bone spear instead and then it becomes much more ranged. I love that build a lot. Even more so once you unlock the spider and can add a shield.
