Maelstrom Eyre

I joined Second Life in 2009, spent a few months wandering around with clicky heels and facelights. Then I found places like Grendel's Children, and saw people with avatars that weren't human. . .and I found my tribe.
I'm a furry - I don't believe I am an animal trapped in a human's body, but I love stories and art involving animal characters. I'd heard about "furries" before joining SL, always with the theme that "they're people who dress up as animals to have sex" and I didn't really want anything to do with that. So, when I first joined SL I distanced myself from anything to do with furries.
But, I LOVED the idea of having an avatar that was an animal, like something out of Disney's Robin Hood. Gradually, I started visiting furry sims, and found a good group of people at the now-closed AnthroXtacy club. They weren't what I'd expected. They were laid back and friendly and fun to talk to, they were supportive and welcoming. I was hooked.
Since then, it's been a central theme in my existence online, it's what makes me happy. I actively roleplayed in medieval/fantasy themed furry sims like Wilds Sanctuary, Alteria, Elyona, and Mystic Realms.
When I'm not in a RP sim or at my home in Kang Nae, I bounce around to some of the inworld clubs.
