I ended up buying some bits but I did this more or less recently with an avatar. I just use the inclided heads and body and adjusted things to my liking.

The Legacy body they give you works with "sexy bits" too, which is what I ended up buying. I did get a new skin, but its the one that matches the free one, because I wanna say the free one lacks details like nipples. Hell it may have had baked on Underwear, I forget.

It does have baked on underwear. Where did you acquire a new skin? I’m building a new Tony using the pack but do want to update the body with a nude skin. Is it separate from the head skin? This is new territory for me.

Have searched the Marketplace but don't find what I think I'm looking for knowing that I don't know what I don't know about skinning.

Perhaps searching for shapes is the proper method. Are "skins" just clothing on a shape that, wait, hmm or is BOM a shape that includes a matching skin texture? Suppose I should find some reading material.

I checked on it to be sure.

The default library skin has built in underwear, but in the maker's store there were some tattoo layers you could buy (for fairly cheap if I recall), that remove them.

For example, in my case, the avatar is using "VELOUR & leLAPEAU - Iseul Skin", from the library. I've added the "Picasso Babe Skin for Legacy (SLIM/ICY)" from the add on pack labeled "itGirls & VELOUR x Picasso Babe "Slim Muse" (LEGACY) ICY". I think I found the source on the official forums somewhere. I will say, the VELOUR store has a LOT of stuff so actually finding the proper matching add on was a bit tricky, it was on the back wall to the right for this one I believe.

The library includes a body that works with BOM layers, and a few skins, a few shapes, some clothing. The bodies are Legacy based. They work with clothing, skin and tattoo layers just like anything else BOM.

The library Legacy bodies don't have HUDs for alpha toggles but any set of alpha layer textures will do the same thing due to the BOM compatability. Like I bought some pants recently that didn't quite fit so I grabbed a random pants alpha later to wear from the library.

So we don't have bodies and clothing. An avatar is a pile of shapes, with alpha and textured layers applied, that project a body in a specific state of dress. Taking off a shirt ruins the effect unless the layers are "replaced" with others that maintain the illusion of a cohesive "body."

Do the ruth bodies, oh and heads are apparently a whole separate adventure including neck side quests, and what we used to call "clothing" operate the same way but in a pre-applied, dumbed down, fashion? I'm inclined to find a suitably green conglomeration for Khamon now that I know the shapes are modifiable in the interface. But damn this is complicated.

And does this also mean that once you go BOM you can't just purchase and wear clothing any longer? Do you have to specifically search for items that integrate properly with the existing pile of layers that compose your av? Is it that limiting?

Old style clothing layers have not really been used by most forna while. Its generally some sort of Mesh with its own texture, that matches the body.

For the most part, the common bodies (Legacy, Lara, Reborn for women, not sure for men honestly) have plenty of options.

That said, BOM does allow the use of old clothing and textures.

The Bofy and head are basically a "layer" over the basic Ruth/Roth that has a smoother and better look. Like people wearing prim/flexi/mesh hair. BOM will essentially just take whenever texture skin/clothing is on the Ruth/Roth basic avatar, and paint it onto the new body/face. It will probably look dodgy though, since old textures tend to be kind of low rez, plus its literally painted on.

Then the mesh clothing goes on the outside.

I would say, start with whatever you have now, and add one of library bodies, maybe a library head. See how it looks with whatever clothes/tattoos/skin you have now. Then maybe update the skin. I imagine there are green skins out there because there are plenry of furry/scaly folks who would use such a thing as a base.

You could also possibky find a regular human skin that can be modified, and add a green tint.

I am not positive how well it would work, but possibly also a slightly transpent green texture, worn as a tattoo, that still shows skin detail through, may work.

I don't know if any of this is helpful or what you are looking for.
